Error Correction: I said that the mids were recessed BUT I actually meant they are NOT recessed! Both are forward mids but the Hero is excessively more then the Odin. Also, I apologize for the lighting as it got a little overblown on the right side and I didn't notice at the time of recording. Why am I such a bad KZitem content editor and creator? Thank you.

I like the new format, it’s nice to see a side by side with unboxing. That talking bluetooth though 🤣. Sounds like maybe Empire tried to pack too many different types of transducers into these. Glad to see some critical comments of the Odin among the sea of awe from other reviewers.

Thanks for what you do for the community. The honesty doesn't go for not. I'm probably not so interested in the odin and it's capabilities and potential, long term. Your not the only one to say they are forward and too much. Hero does look aesthetically nice and better than I thought it would tbh. Fun review tho even if not for me, all gear is interesting 😎👍🏼💯

Ah yes, the endgame IEM everyone dreams of owning but only around 10% of audiophiles can afford! I luckily can afford luxury IEMs but probably won't ever bother to purchase one because stuff eventually breaks and any accidental slip ups can spell doom to a pair of IEMs no matter the price point. Is it really necessary to buy $2,000+ IEMs if your budget stretches that far? I personally think it's a waste of $$$ unless you're a multi-millionaire who laughs at luxury products for obvious reasons. Really appreciate David criticizing some aspects of two very expensive IEMs instead of putting both on a pedestal because of their pricing, some tech reviewers would totally suck on anything that retails over 1k just because it's luxury.

Totally understand. I havent heard an IEM in the 3k price bracket that calls for me to purchase, a few have enticed but haven't pulled out the wallet. I do own two 1k IEM with the Rai Penta and M5-12D and they've yet to be bested. Honesty is the best policy. Thanks for watching and commenting.

The guys from The HEADPHONE Show was promoting Odin so hard, like there is no better iem exists, shame on them... But in reality it is not even better than the most tribrids under 1k$ from Thieaudio, Kinera, Shuoer.

Not so. Odin is really amazing, it won over Sultan, Forte and many other iems I tried in direct comparison. Of course, it is technically superior to iems you mentioned. Thing is word "better" is subjective. Better for me- yes, not necessarily for you.

I am glad you enjoy them. I didn't say I didn't like the Odin or Hero. I would pick the Sultan over them because of their treble control. Everyone hears differently. Thanks for watching, commenting and subscribing.

Hello Dave, thanks for your honest review! They are very expensive for a lot of people (including me by a lot xD)… Yet, glad for you being able to test them, liking or not these type of products are quite of an experience aren't they? Being it a very unique and pleasant experience or the most immeasurable disappointment who will ruin your day hehehe. By the way, i took a look of all the reviews that interest me from your channel, even the older ones, and i have some questions, could you give me a minute (maybe five?! =D) of your time? I am very lay in the subject, mainly in technicalities... Im pretending to buy some different headphones to start my system: The first one will be the Hifiman Sundara to be my all-rounder. Then the Sennheiser HD6xx (consider it HD650), that i will be using for something more intimate, smooth and relaxing. The Grado Sr80e for something more portable, lightweight, and intimate but energetic sound, especially for Rock. Then im searching a headphone only for Movies and Immersive Gaming, the Sundara's seems to be too much analytical and intimate on this task. Based on that, i have a few questions for you: 1- Knowing that you disliked the Fidelio X2hr, you said that it is good for gaming. Is it the best headphone on this price range for specifically Movies and immersive gaming? I saw a lot of reviews about these and im aware of all its flaws: harshness, bloated bass, distant/hollow mids etc, but besides that, it is almost a consensus that the x2hr appears to deliver a cinematic experience when referring only to movies/games, not only because of the large soundstage but also due to other characteristics as well, such as what they called "big and expansive bass" in some reviews, which in theory should make the explosions very immersive. 2- i'm struggling very much to decide which AMP/DAC i get, and after seeing your review about the Sundara, saying that it's very "picky" on AMP's, im more confused than before =D. Soo, im actually thinking on get the "Fx-Audio Dac-x6 (normal or MKII) or "Ifi Zen DAC" to be the AMP/DAC combo, or the "Schiit Magni 3" AMP + some budget DAC like the Fiio D3. - The Dac-X6 looks a very good option, have bluetooth for convenient and a lot of power for its price. Yet, it apparently has a little "hissing" sound on low impedance headphones soo i don't know if it would be a good match with the Sundara (and Ananda which i pretend to buy on the future). - The Ifi Zen DAC (which apparently is a AMP too) looks amazing, clean and smooth, but i don't know if it will have enough power to properly supply the Sundara and HD6xx on a pleasant volume with the proper "body" on the sound. - The Schiit Magni 3+, which is the only one of the 3 that you don't reviewed, looks amazing either, having a LOOOOOOT of power, but its only a AMP, and i don't know if a budget DAC will be good. I dont know almost anything about DAC's, what i have heard is that you dont really need a expensive DAC if your current one, being it integrated or not, dont have any problem like hissing or electrical interference. And the Magni 3+, like the Dac-x6, dont have a balanced output, which leads me for the next question. 3- Do headphones like HD6xx, Hifiman Sundara and Ananda really benefits from balanced cable? Do you hear any perceptive difference that makes it worth to expend more money on a balanced cable and AMPs/DACs? I will be honest with you, i pretend to buy some different headphones for different purposes, but im definitly not the guy who will have a lot of different amps, dacs, or will be rolling tubes and digging in every possibility. I want just to plug my new headphones and be happy. Not only because i don't want it, but also because things are very expensive here, and i mean, VERY expensive (but i don't want either hehe). At most i intend to buy a tube AMP in the future like the Little Dot MKII for my HD6xx, having both Solid State and Tube options. 4- That "unnatural" timber on the Sundara and harshness on the X2hr that you mentioned on your reviews can be "fixed" with EQ? This is another thing that its good to mention, you said on one of the comments that you are not the "EQ type of guy", but i personally don't care about it, if it will improve my experience, i will do it, no problem. By the way, could i make the HD6xx looks closer to the HD600 with EQ? Thats is it… Sorry for the giant bible, like i said, im very lay on this type of things, especially AMP/DAC/Balanced subjects. Thanks for your attention!

Thanks for the kind words, glad you enjoy the channel. 1. X2HR is ok in my book for gaming and movies, is it the best that is debatable. I personally don't recommend the X2HR at all. I don't really have a replacement in mind for that purpose though so... 2. I would go with a Schitt Magni 3 Heresy and a iFi Audio Zen or a Geshelli Labs JNOG or ENOG (DAC) with the Geshelli Labs Archel 2 Pro (Amp). 3. The benefits of balanced cable is the ability to have more power which can/does help with overall presentation. But I do not find that the Sundara and 6xx are 100% better when balanced, they can sound just great with a 6.35mm single-ended with the proper amp. 4. I don't use EQ but I am not a strong believer that timbre can be fixed; I believe timbre is a flaw that isn't fixablebut can be masked to cover the flaw. 5. Final Thoughts: If I was looking at getting the Sundara, 6xx, X2HR; I would get a Geshelli Labs ENOG/JNOG and a Geshelli Labs Archel 2 Pro and Erish. This setup will be plenty to grow for improvements in the future.

@@TheHonestAudiophile That was fast, thank you for the answer! Yeah, the X2hr are quite a singularity, some people hate them, some people like them and say that it hasn't soo much flaws as people say, and others love them with all their flaws together, very strange headphone… Maybe the Superlux HD681 EVO? I dont know, they dont seem to last longer than the tank build of the X2hr, and too have that large and immersive soundstage, but i never heard them soo i cannot affirm it. I took a look on the Geshilli products and apparently it would be very difficult to me to get these, i will search a little more however. Any reason why you recommended the Heresy over the Magni 3+? i've heard that the 3+ are smoother and the Heresy are more analytical, thats why i mentioned them over the Heresy, because on some Sundara reviews, including yours, they say that the Sundara's are good with smooth amps but too sharp on analytical ones. Same with the iFi Zen DAC, any reason why you picked it over the Schiit Modi? By the way, if i choose to pick the Zen DAC + Magni, do you think that the Zen Dac would have enough to power both the Sundara and HD6xx for a while until i buy the dedicated AMP? if i buy the Magni or any other AMP that isn't balanced and plug it on the Zen DAC, i wouldn't be able to use the Balanced option, because its Source > DAC > AMP > Headphone right? And when i have both, which signature would prevail, the signature from the DAC or from the AMP? Just asking, don't will bother myself too much with it... Probably my ENDGAME for at least some good and long years will be the Hifiman Ananda, after that i will only get sidegrades aiming different experiences. Any other recommendation, being it AMP, DAC or even headphone to make my system better and more flexible is welcome! PS: We all want your GL2000 review, good lord what are you doing Linsoul?

@@ryuujivoidstalker7490 I recommend the Heresy because I owned it for a few months. Havent head Magni or Modi outside headphone meets. If you have a quality DAC that isn't too cold, analytical like the Topping E30 is too much them the Heresy paired well with the Sundara. A Grace Design sdac is a good pairing for the Heresy. Geshelli ships worldwide, send an email to them for more information.. I'd stick with Sundara and not explore Superlux HD681 Evo. GL2000 would be fun to review.

@@TheHonestAudiophile hm, interesting… i said that because i tried to make a test purchase and got the message: "We cannot calculate the shipping for your location". Will send a message to then anyway, dont will hurt. Yeah, totally understandable, you cannot recommend something that you dont experienced. Assuming the reviews are correct and that 3+ is smoother than Heresy, combining it with a smooth DAC would ruin the sound? (i like the silver look from 3+ more than the black/red from Heresy xD) Thanks for the answers, I will try not to take more of your time, you have already helped me a lot!

@@ryuujivoidstalker7490 one thing I have noticed about Schiit gear in limited listening is that there is a treble glare, sheen. I didn't notice it on the Heresy.
