I worked there and i have clinical depression and made me want to work there but i got bullied over my mental illness even tho they say they offer benefits and help for mental health.... They dont, and just so you all know servers dont get any benifits the other staff get, we sell the food and make 3 bucks an hour from the restaurant but get crap tips, my pay from the restaurant hardly covers my taxes, and the company owns you when you work there, they own your social media they own music you make, and they make sure they keep an eye on everything you post or say on the internet, if you work at olive garden please dont be a server it is not worth it, you have the hardest job and the company treats you like shit and the management treats you like shit and they keep a score of everything you sell and even if you have a bad section which is very common, they will gladly fire you, they held a meeting to fire 3 staff saying they werent good enough even tho they worked so hard, the corporate greed is real, dont be a server there! And the few tips you do make you have to pay 15% to staff and pay 24% taxes on that, so you dont make money dont get benifits and yur treated like a dog

I used to work at Olive Garden it's owned by General Mills they make cereal. All the food you eat at Olive Garden is prepared, cooked and put in a vacuum package beggie and froze, what you're really eating is an expensive TV dinner, there is no chef in the kitchen they're only cooks boiling pots of water on stoves. They put the sealed frozen package food in the boiling pot of water until it's done. I would never spend my hard earned money for a expensive TV dinner at Olive Garden if you want to eat real Italian food go to a mom and pop shop restaurant.

Sorry that you think General Mills only makes and sells anything other than cereal. The General Foods Company makes more than just cereal and, is a company that’s been around for yrs. If you claim you worked for Olive Garden and you claim the food came from General Mills that should prove to you they make and manufacture more than just cereal. Another note people also know most restaurants that are chain restaurants get there food from big manufacture companies and, that’s also how they can sell a restaurant brand products in stores. That’s like Kraft Foods, there are tons of restaurants that manufacture food for lots of chain restaurants as well, that’s like then, they can come out with a line of products that are associated with those restaurants, which racks them in more money. One being for instance Kraft is associated with Cracker Barrel and Bob Evans just to name a couple.

Also I hauled alot of juice out of Random Lake Wisconsin to Kraft foods in Springfield Missouri and I hauled alot of cheese there also that was put into Lunchables that so many kids and people snack on. And I hauled alot of cheese from creamery's in Wisconsin and Minnesota and Iowa down to Carthage Missouri to the caves and was distributed to many restaurants and food and grocery stores by Schreiber Foods. I also picked up cheese from Schreiber Foods DC in Carthage Missouri and hauled to Sioux City Iowa and a place in Minnesota where they made Lunchmakers similar to Krafts Lunchables but just a different company and the Lunchmakers were made and I hauled the finish product to Indianapolis Indiana to Americold for storage till needed. There are so many different things and products made by certain companies like Kraft Foods and Schreiber Foods it would blow your mind.

Oliver Garden is pretty much the most difficult serving job. Most place you only need to serve the food and refill drinks. But at olive garden you have to also refill breadsticks, soup, and salads (endlessly). And are also expected to fill the salad, make the soups and yell at the breadstick maker to make more when they’re low. So many other things you have to do and are completely inefficient and adds unnecessary work to the server. Then the customers complain about you taking so long when you back there restocking the entire kitchen and getting buckets of ice for the drinks.

The sauces and some soups are made fresh. The desserts are prepackaged (management will even admit this), as are the breadsticks. The breadsticks are prepackaged, put on a tray, buttered, seasoned, and reheated in the oven, then put in a warming tray. The salads are mostly prepackaged, though the tomatoes and a few other veggies are cut. The chicken is prefrozen patties that are reheated and chopped. Funny, but management will tell its new hires (among many other lies) that aside from the desserts, the food is made 'fresh from scratch'. Lies mixed with misinformation. While there are microwaves on the line, and they do get used for certain things, many of the pasta dishes are cooked over gas in skillets. Fried Calamari, and the shrimp, as well as the raviolis are basically the kind of stuff you'd buy in the freezer section of a grocery store.

The bread sticks are joke They toast them and put butter and garlic salt on it. I want to how much they paid the guy extra to say he loves his job there. The only send Managers. There's no chef's there. About racism There were no racism I worked up No sexism They're pretty good about that stuff So there's a positive I guess. But they just said It's not USIT's the minimum wage laws. They could fix that. Okay Now I'm gonna tell you how I feel about the restaurant The General manager did not know what was going on anytime Who knows on how she got the job that And all the other managers As competent as she was. If it was a mom and pop shop it would have closed. And remember I did not get fired I didn't quit it was because of I want what's going on in 2020. Would you tell the The managers who had there favorites Then they let them get away with everything And the people who worked really hard that didn't even notice. No it's not, especially not the one in a certain main city in Oklahoma. Can't get into much detail because of my lawsuit, but to put it as safe as I can..... A certain manager claims that Servers pay the bussers wages because they tip out bussers a percentage of total sales of the restaurant for that shift. (But did you know Oklahoma is one of the last states in America to pay their servers $2.13 an hour because they receive tips? )and the bussers are paid $6 an hour, so they do this thing called Tip Share, where they make it look like they pay you $12 an hour, when really if the servers dont make enough tips in 4 hour shift that adds up too $12 an hour, they take your tips split a percentage to the bussers and then we all get super taxed on the tips. In most states Servers make atleast minimum wage most of the time more, and they get to keep all of their tips.
@highrzr

I'm thinking the real truth is the staff is over worked, and under paid. Tipping is like paying over MSRP for a vehicle because the real issue is the owners don't pay what their staff it's worth and for what they do. In all honesty, you can make the same food at home with equal or better quality ingredients for a lot less money.

It’s a shame it doesn’t seem so fair to the workers, so I rarely eat there. That being said, I must say their breadsticks are delicious of course and their salad is very delicious. They used to offer a raspberry cheesecake for dessert that was awesome. Surprisingly, my favorite order of ALL there is not even pasta!!! The herb- crusted salmon dinner is, imo, just done to perfection!! Seasoned and prepared just right- better than many seafood restaurants around!! And the staff where I was each time, were great. It was a nice experience! (What I do when it’s really fabulous is not only leave a good tip, but I also ask to speak to the Manager, and tell them that the food and server were exceptional!!)

I have worked at Olive Garden for 4 months and got fired on my birthday. I was a busser against my wishes and as you know, Olive gardens have hundreds of tables on separate sides of the building. I was not only underpaid for the shit I was forced to clean but I was the only busser throughout most of my months. Imagine on a busy rush hour Saturday and a busy church Sunday, there’s 5 tables to clear on south side. I will work on those and as the only busser, no one could clean the other side but me. As I’m cleaning those 5 tables there will be 3 or more dirty tables on north side of the building. That’s not only stressful but near impossible. I would spends 30 min cleaning sauce and other hard to scrub meals off our carpet with my bare hands just to get yelled at in public to clean another big dirty party. A party of 50 once came in and made us all gussets and waiters life hell and for 5 hours straight. They left and didn’t leave a single tip yet they spend over 400 dollars.

Literally just got fired from the same position without a warning or a write up because I was physically incapable of being the only busser for the entire restaurant (nobody can do this) and was in charge of all the side stations. I don’t know where to begin with how ridiculous the circumstances were but the cherry on top was that I was being bullied for 6 months and nothing was ever done about it, bully still worked there and still pushed me around. Fuck Olive Garden but also now I have to worry about feeding my family and having a place to live. Lol.

@@septemberquest6393 idk for certain as it’s different for mutiple people but from what I’ve done, dishes can pile up a lot and servers don’t always have time to wait for clean plates and other items so if you do dishwashing, make sure you got the stamina. It can get very hot by the dish machine also so beware of that. It can be compacted and tight space to work in also.

These days these food chains sck and it was not your fault .servers were suppose to pick up there stuff too they are laz now and expect the busser to do it and tip you nothing. I took care of my bussers sometimes giving them almsot half of my tips I made decent money and the bussers deserved it as much as I did. I kept my busser confident praising him and taught him stuff he became a server soon. Do not ever apply for a busser go straight to server and work in hight end resorts. They completely train you anyway and being a server is not rocket science byt some people underestimate it , you just need to have a good memory which gets better in time because you are constantly using it anyway multitas which is a skill that you will aquire and humility to be a server nd not care how others perceive you or say about servers. you get the last laugh when you walk home with very good money at end of your shift. of course you need to be a charming good server that geniounly just listens to the guest needs but if they are horrible guest, you also have the right to stop serving them

It's mostly true. Except for the discounts. Any employee working for any concept owned by Darden (Olive Garden, Yardhouse, Ruth's, Eddie V's, Season's 52, Longhorn, Capital Grille, Bahama Breeze, etc) gets discounts in any of the other concepts.

As a former line cook, it's corporate as usual. Do the job of 3 or 5 ppl. Paid minimum wage and blamed for everything by those who do 1 thing right. Tenure is paid to those doing over 30 hours AVERAGE per week on your anniversary. So they rip you off by scheduling you for 29 hours if your fast a.f and hooking up everyone else. Also don't have to pay you benefits in cali.

The standard practice in these "Slop-n-Serve" chain eateries is making sure managers keep everyone just below full time so benefits don't have to get paid to the workers. Sad but true.

I should try this place again. I stopped going quite a few years ago, not because it was horrible, but because I found a restaurant which is now closed but it was called tucci benuchi. And it was located at Mall of America. It was part of the lettuce entertainment group. They closed because, the mall of America got greedy and wanted more rent. This was some of the best Italian food I’ve ever had. Sorry, but that includes all of garden. And I got this information, I thought all their stuff came frozen and in bags it was not made fresh. So, this gives me a reason to try the restaurant again.

It's the worst S@#$%thole I have ever worked in. They made me work with my finger bleeding on father's day, so yeah. I have a scar on my middle finger thanks to "my family". It's a buffet disguised as a restaurant. The infernal unlimited garbage it's a nightmare for any experienced of beginner server. You go 10 times to the table and your check is still $20. Guests are rude, unkempt and have no manners at all (one was watching porn at one of my tables). The cheese grater is the most disgraceful thing a human being can do to another. I would ask my guests: " You let me know when to stop" and they would reply: " Until your arm breaks". You politely laugh, but inside you are wishing them to choke on their stuffed ravioli. I have nightmares until this day of that place. I wake up sweating in the middle of the night feeling that i forgot the cheese, the salad, the refill, I go to the kitchen and there are no breadsticks, the soup is empty and I have 5 refills and the food is already coming out...I hated every minute of my tenure there. Thankfully all the managers I worked with were fired after I was gone and now a new team runs the show, but the concept is still a disgrace for any person trying to make a living wage. My advice: NEVER work for that place. Go to a mid tier restaurant where there is nothing free and main courses are above $30 , and then move up to upscale dining. But yeah, they do make their own sauces and soup fresh everyday....

Increase minimum wage laws for serving. Staff. Our minimum wage here in the United Kingdom applies to all workers. There is no separate wage for waiting staff. Tipping is less of a thing here and in some parts of Europe it’s actively discouraged. In Japan it’s something no one should ever do

"The real problem was the minimum wage laws " Then pay above the minimum wage. It's a MINIMUM, not a MANDATED, wage. There's absolutely nothing stopping them from paying their employees more -- nothing but the seemingly endless abyss of corporate greed. I worked in the restaurant industry for almost 30 years, and the server minimum never increased. In fact, several corporate places have made employees such as host staff "tipped" employees so they are paid the lower wage, then force the service staff to tip them out of their earnings. This is nothing more than a shameless attempt to have servers subsidize the restaurant's payroll, and it's unfortunately legal in many states.

@@R._Thornhill Which is what people are doing in droves. However, now certain people are complaining when their favorite restaurants are unable to keep staff or maintain service.
