By far the best basic tutorial, showing many interesting details that other tutorial makers probably don't even know about, and also better than reading the manual, although one certainly should. I have ordered a Zoia, but it's nice to learn a bit more about it while I wait for it.

Nicely done. Thank you for taking the time to go through the basic UI and workflow portions. You added a lot of detail that I think other videos, while helpful and great on their own as well, mostly left out. Mine shows up Saturday. Can't wait to dive in.

Hi great tutorial! I was wondering how to delete a connection between modules on two different pages. I've tried various ways but I always end up deleting a module. Normally I press both connection buttons + shift + trashcan but it's not possible to do on two different pages. EDIT: I found out :) Just select the in/out on a module one page, shift page, press a out/in on a module and they are both selected (can be seen on the display). And it's secure to use shift + trashcan

Amazing, the best MPC live tutor has gotten my next piece of hardware. Tubey can I ask how is midi out on the MPC going in the Zoia can I receive notes and send the clock also can I control the Zoia with a usb midi keyboard like the keystep via the usb port on the MPC. Your answer would depend if I eat baked beans for a month Safe
@TUBEDIGGA
4 жыл бұрын
Hi, you just need a standard midi cable connected to the ZOIA midi to 1/8" midi adaptor into the ZOIAs midi in port, and whatever keyboard you have going in to the MPC should be able to trigger ZOIA providing you have the midi in modules set up correctly etc.

Does it have an analog dry through? Or everything goes through digital conversion? ❤ And where can I see the CPU load meter etc? Thnxx brother
@TUBEDIGGA
Жыл бұрын
Yes as far as I know it’s just like any other effects pedal so passing a guitar through (by adding an audio in and out module with no additional processing or effects) will be analogue but any effect modules added to the signal chain will be digital as will any synth patches. And from memory I’m sure you have a dry/wet mix for each. But your original audio source should remain analogue. I can’t be 100% sure though as I don’t have the Zoia anymore so drop Empress an email and I’m sure they’ll get back to you with the correct information.

@@TUBEDIGGA The Empress Zoia product page and their support page explicitly states that the Zoia comes with an sd card included. Might want to make a note of that in the description section. When I heard you at approx 5 mins into the video state that it doesn't come with one I nearly jumped straight to Amazon to get one same day shipped to me since my Zoia is arriving later today. I then remembered that I heard people say that it did indeed ship with an sd card so I went and checked the Empress site. Just a heads up. Also, really great video - and channel for that matter.

@CarlMikaelBjork

The Mod Duo would compare to a virtual pedal board, where you need the computer to setup up your pedal board configuration. The ZOIA is a modular system (and effects!) in a guitar pedal form. The patching does not rely on a computer.

It’s not supposed to be an immediate results type of musical device like a groovebox or pre-configured synth. And even many of those require an amount of diving and programming unless you want to be stuck with bland factory made patches. It’s a virtual modular environment that requires time and thought to build complex patches that can do things neither of the aforementioned devices can because they are fixed and their functions are dictated to the user. This provides a lot more freedom and customisation - but yes, part of the price you pay for that luxury is menu diving and programming. And even then it is convenient in comparison to a traditional modular regarding size, no need for cables and of course cost.
@originalfallinggirl

TUBE DIGGA I’m sure this suits lots of people. In fact I saw Cuckoo using it at Moogfest and I got to play through it with a guitar at the Focal booth. The effects were ace and I didn’t mean to besmirch the device. I am primarily a modular musician but I do menu dive out of necessity with my Elektron gear. I’ve learned the Elektron workflow from years of performing with it. With that being said, I like to consider myself DAWless for the reason that I’m getting older and it’s tough to keep learning new machines. I’m sure the Zoia is excellent. I just don’t have the attention span to learn a new instrument/effect system.
