Two of my favorite beard oils are Black Rebel and Magic City because they contain ostrich oil. Of course I use oils from many other companies that do a great job too, but when I want that extra softness, nothing beats bird oils in my opinion. Good topic Dan.

Really good video Dan! Not sure we have any UK companies using bird oil. I think we're about 10 years behind you guys. Not in terms of quality, I think we lead the way there but for innovation... Would be great to see what the fuss is about with bird oil.
@DanCBearded
3 күн бұрын
Lead the way with quality, interesting take I haven’t heard before! What makes you say that?
@JonnyPsyclo
2 күн бұрын
@@DanCBearded "quality" was probably the wrong word. I meant that I think cosmetic safety is a bit tighter here which means that you have to list allergens and stuff which means as a consumer you have a better chance of making sure a product is a safe to use. I didn't mean that the oils themselves are better quality.
@Sarge5150

Emu vs. Ostrich oil was a good video! If Ostrich is just a bit "better" than emu, for the companies that use emu, is it a cost thing? Is it them trying to appeal to the masses? Both? Neither?

With time i'm starting to believe a small amount of Emu works best daily or frequently, but when my beard was in dire need of help, the repair/nurishment high % Ostrich carrier based oils gave was the best thing ever. The side effect and why i eventually stopped wearing Ostrich constantly is its like halfway towards being a butter (kind of but not exactly like a alternative to wearing butter during the day/all the time), its so thick/oily compared to other oils that it can't work the same for most beards on a daily basis over and over again and feel as natural, but with a small bit of Emu it just blends in and can work every day without likely noticing some of the same drawbacks that repeated use of Ostrich oil, for myself at least, can cause. Both are great but they are very different "tools" to me and it's just a question of using the right one at the right time the right way.

i agree on overuse. my beard takes a few daily uses in a row to "get it" when it comes to a new oil. after my beard accepts it, i need to only use it once a week or so to instantly feel the benefits of something like ostrich oil.

Dan, I have a totally random question. As a former teacher, what do you think of some school's policies on male students not being allowed to grow a beard?

If it is a public school, then the school will be sued because they are breaking the law. If it is a private school, it is their right to do that. If the student/family doesn't like the rule, they need to go somewhere else.
