What an amazing conversation! I had a huge "ah-ha" moment at the idea of Adam and Eve having to taste all of the fruits in Eden before being able to eat from the Tree of Knowledge. Paul Kingsnorth's story of how he found Orthodoxy is similar to my experience, in that he first went through Buddhism, then witchcraft, then Paganism and so on before finally coming to Christianity, which is a story that is very similar to mine. I had realised that if I had skipped going through all of these steps and gone straight to Christianity then my eyes would have been 'opened' in the incorrect way, 'cheating on the exam' as Fr. Bogdan so elegantly put it! Illuminating episode!

That part about even before the disciples knew they were in the presence of Christ, the burning in their heart was Him all along is very interesting. It would be something in the sense of "the goal is already there in the journey" or "the goal is already there from the start", even though we do not recognize it.

This was the best conversation. It shows the pattern of Revelation clearly, and that's the pattern missing everywhere else. The Protestants don't have it, the Catholic name it but don't perceive it, only the Orthodox understand its radical importance.

Unfortunately, this is very true. When I was talking with other Catholics, even a guy that graduated theology, he just didn't get it. The more I develop my relationship with God through orthodox Christianity and the sacraments, the more I realise that psychedelics give you a very similar mystical experience as Christianity like I've had after taking communion, but it is from the wrong person and not in it's proper place. Almost exactly like satan giving them the knowledge early apart from God. It is a mystical spiritual experience but it is devoid of the true illumination that Christ gives you... Might write a book on it lol. After having mystical experiences through Christianity I was surprised to find out that it was a similar divine feeling I got from psychedelics, but i was feeling the divinity and glory of Christ shining on me, psychedelics tend to raise you up as the divine one and give you divine feelings about yourself instead of raising Christ up as the divine one that you're looking to and experiencing. If that makes sense lol. It was completely mind blowing when I first experienced that because I was a protestant before and I tried so hard to wrap my head around psychedelics and where they fit in in the story of life, then I had those true mystical experiences with Christ through orthodoxy and it all made sense. It's another ploy of the devil. Its an inverted communion, receiving knowledge from below, causing what is below to be raised into a sort of divinity and self glorification instead of humbly receiving what is from above through communion and having what is from above glorify you through His divine glory
@EmJay2022

Biblical christianity and mysticism have nothing in common. My friend have you ever tested your mystical experiences in prayer? Have you truly challenged them to see if they are from the correct spirit? Don't you think it's more than a mere coincidence that both experiences are similar? True revelation from God is something that cannot be calculated as with drugs or rituals. It's based on God's timing through genuine faith. If you have not been granted repentance from God through a genuine faith in the biblical fully human Jesus (not the demigod Jesus of trinitarianism) then you have to test yourself to see if you are actually in the faith

I did loads of psyches until well after meeting the Devil. Learned allot about how subliminal messages work and what it is to sell your soul + the method of selling. The patterns Johnathan describes are perfectly cohesive with the maddened pages I wrote over the course of years of psychedelic abuse. (Tripped acid 4-5x a week, dmt, pcp, rcs) Nothing good comes of psychedelics. You stare at a false light slowly becoming chained with paralysis of analysis. Many roads lead to to the same black hole; specific steps lock the doors of "Chapel Perilous" behind you- forever.

In one of your videos you mentioned it is not uncommon for young men who convert to Orthodoxy to develop an admiration for Tsar Nicholas, and grow a tribute beard, etc. and you said, "It is because they know that they need a king." In another video you were addressing the question of why so many of our fairy tales take place in the Medieval period and you said that is when "It all came together" in terms of culture, faith, political power, and the grand patterns. I would love to hear you talk about both of these more and (perhaps included in that) a bit about the relationship between King and Church and culture. It seems to me that Anglicanism, with its great Royal ceremonies in Westminster Abbey attended by Prime Ministers and presided over by archbishops and so on may be a still-extant expression of some of the same "patterns" that you were talking about in those other places. Anyways, would love to hear more of your thoughts on all of that.

One of the reasons why the disciples were unable to recognise the risen Christ, as given in the book “Meditations on the Tarot”, is that the resurrected body is different from the body he had originally. This is apparently a feature of resurrection. The resurrected body is lighter, less coarse, more “spirit than matter” and can appear and disappear at will. The idea of resurrection is that one has conquered death, therefore the resurrected body resides in both Heaven and Earth simultaneously. The resurrected person has become immortal, basically. Therefore the reason the disciples could not recognise him is a) he actually looked different than he did in his previous body and b) they were only able to recognise him once he allowed them to do so.

Why didn't angels invite the disciples to see the resurrection first hand like they did with the birth? Why didn't they notice the holes in his hands. Jesus said when he returns all will see his wounds, where'd they go? If Jesus expounded on the prophets, why didn't someone write that down? Why is the story of the brief meeting more important than what he said? Christianity has a long terrible history of telling the story and forgetting the message. Please make another video.
