All experience I have with the EFHW is with my homebrew multi-tap UNUNs. I’ve been using my 80m EFHW for over a year. And I’ve loved it the whole time. But a couple weeks ago I put up a test 20m EFHW - and I’ve become CONVINCED that this is about the ideal antenna for stateside.. and the occasional DX contacts.
I guess I assumed the 80m version would work great because it’s big. Lol. But after erecting the test 20m one- and realizing that they are equal, I fell in love all over again.
I have recorded a couple or a few videos that I never used showing the noise and signal level comparison between the 80 and 20 EFHWs and my dipoles. You always hear that the dipole is the quieter of the two. In my case - yes, it’s quieter - in both noise and signal. More importantly- the S/N ratio is almost always better on the EFHWs. Sometimes FAR better.
Yet at times- the dipole is so much noisier that it’s not even a comparison. I think I captured that in some of the vids.. and I may edit them togeter into something watchable and post it if there’s any interest.
You really should watch Deep Purple perform in the video called:

They did a show at Atwood Stadium in Flint- the same place where I repaired the 440v 3 phase AC mains and saved the show for Journey, Eddie Money and Pat Benetar. lol.
Thanks for watching guys!
