The weather this year is having a negative effect on most of my outdoor crops too. It’s a little frustrating but there’s nothing we can do. Last night we went down to just over 6c and this morning it’s grey and raining but we must try and stay positive and hope for better weather.

Yes, the weather of late has been a bit of a downer but there are definite winners so far such as potatoes (Maris Piper), all berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, etc). My winners so far are potatoes, carrots and Brussel sprouts 😊. My garlic, sweet corn and nasturtiums seem to be coping well. My ugu, tomatoes, strawberries and African marigolds are still in the greenhouse but I’m skeptical about bringing these out as the weather this June drops to single figures overnight. My African yams (discoria rotundata) and scotch bonnet peppers are the losers so far. I planted 10 pepper seeds, only 1 germinated and somehow died ☹️ Out of interest, did you plant any ugu (fluted pumpkin) this year? What are the best companion plants for Ugu? And what shouldn’t be planted at close proximity to ugu?

Hey @herbaltea5546 I gave up ugu growing last year the yield hasn’t been worth it for me. It usually doesn’t get bothered by pests in the few years I’ve grown them. I hope this helps. The forecast seems to be warmer in the next few days let’s hope the heat loving crops do better
