I pay all my utilities a year in advance in January (for the corresponding calendar year). I then check online, on a monthly basis, what the actual usage amount was deducted (for the month) to place it in my utilities chart. In the month of November & December, I verify balances available for all utilities to know if I need to pay anything, for overages used during the year, or if I will have a small credit at close of year. Once I am aware the total amount charged during the year for each utility, to that overall amount I’ll add 3% more, and this total amount is what I will mail the following year in January to the utility company. I use the same method for my medical insurance (via state marketplace) and home property taxes since our home and cars were already paid in full a few years ago.

Omg! Yes - Richard Simmons and his wallet with cards plan - I do remember this......and using his videos to dance around the living room, trying to lose weight....I am laughing. But, all humor aside, yes, it is the same system as cash in envelopes. Thanks for all your printables! I am using them- 😀

I think the cost of living is high in NYC that's why they get paid higher wages.

Yes, I agree that’s true but that was just an example I rattled off. I see these incomes in various cities regardless of COL.😊

Can I help you put things in perspective? Let's say you are 23 years old, making 100k in NYC. Your take home is maybe 75K. Your fixed expenses ( rent, utilities, transportation, insurance, etc) runs about $5600 per month ($5600x12 months) 67K per year. That only leaves $ 7800 for your sinking funds, vacation, etc. You are living paycheck to paycheck. Believe me, YOU make more money than the girl on Tick Tock. Never be envious. My Mom told me long ago that I can only spend my pocketbook. You are doing a fine job doing just that!!! Great video!
