We're trying Sonlight history, science and language arts next year. My daughter doesn't like textbooks, but she likes real books and to work independently. For writing(composition) we are trying Progeny Press novel guides, but only for the writing assignments. My idea is that my daughter would rather write about a story, rather than typical writing assignments. I also bought Writer's Workshop from Layers of Learning, which we will pick some assignments out of. Sometimes curriculum choices look messy. It's ok.

Just a thought about the writing curriculum - Life in the mundane homeschool channel talks about how she doesn’t start teaching writing until age 10. Maybe taking a year off would help? Anyways, we jumped around a bit this year too and I can relate to how overwhelming that can feel. I also have an up coming 4th grade so looking forward to hearing what you choose. Hope you have a better year next year!

For spelling next year, if you use the 180 Days of Soelling and Vocab curriculum, the author has teaching videos for each lesson posted to KZitem as playlists. That may be a subject that your kiddo can do independently with the videos.
