Love this post Stonie, my big dog passed away at the end of the pandemic. Due to three serious accidents back to back, a large dog is no longer an option for me. I'm also 65 yrs old. I've ALWAYS had one to thee dalmatians as an adult. I adore the breed. Now I'm recovering and I can't give dals the life they deserve. I discovered chihuahuas. I'm shocked at the discrimination that we have experience. Way, way more that me and my dals ever have. My dogs are trained, they are vocal 🎵 and they are NOT ankle biters.😂

You’ve put into words something I’ve done naturally. I’ve owned five dogs over my lifetime and none of them grew up to be the run away kind. I guess you’ve explained why.

The outdoor problem we had with our Chihuahua/JRT mix when she was younger was that she would sometimes follow her nose instead of following/listening us. Now that she's 13y, she's put her hunting days behind her.

That’s one thing I did to make sure my dog was paying attention, I’d hide behind a tree, if I didn’t think he was checking in on me. And that moment of panic for the dog thinking id disappeared, sure made him check in on me a lot more

Yup, teach 'em early to keep watch of where you are so they're near that protection of their leader. What a good little pup. And yes, folks need to see how to teach their dogs how to behave around equipment. Channels that are about "other things", I believe their viewership increases when the channel's co-host is their dog. People love dogs and will watch the channel just to see what the dog they love is up to on that video.

I love your content, Stonnie, and I have learned so much from watching you. You have such a big heart and gentle soul . . . 😊❤ Personally, I am a medium/big dog person. I grew up with Goldens and am drawn to those size and types of dogs. As an adult, I've had Pembroke corgis on two different occasions - they're as small as I would get. Sadly, both are gone and my family of non-dog lovers will not allow me another dog. Some day . . . when kids are gone, I will try again with another Golden or Lab. Maybe I'll throw in a corgi, too, just for the fun of it!❤

Great video! Our neighbors have issues with coyotes at dusk at our country property. Part of the issue is that we aren’t at the property regularly enough. Likely, that property smells more like coyote than it does people. During the day there are no issues and we enjoy working the land and adventuring the dogs there - even my little 13 pound terrier mix loved it when he was alive. Lots of wildlife smells for them and lots of rabbit poo! Stonnie, what is your B channel’s name?

Eagles can take a dog that small for a snack for sure. We have some areas where eagles hunt, and I get nervous when people take their tiny dogs.

I have a PWD and 6 acres. Unfortunately when we were picking her up at the breeder's they commented that the one thing they haven't been able to breed out is the "poop eating gene". And apparently our puppy had it...from the very beginning. Easy enough to pick up dog poop the moment she poops if she's on a leash in her poop area, but if she's out of our site for any moment on the property she will eat her own poop, and she will actively seek out deer poop, coyote poop, or whatever on our property. Then she will throw it up in our bedroom in the middle of the night. So now she only gets one run a day when we're close by monitoring and even though we spend a lot of time outside, she spends most time inside....where she does seem happy enough...or she has to be on a leash outside. Is there any solution? It takes a lot of pleasure out of the fun things we could let her do with us, just constantly having to monitor and worry about what she's eating. Ugh.

l have more trouble with coyotes in the city than the country. l live in Seattle and we now have coyotes in all the big city parks- Arboretum, Discovery, Volunteer, Seward- we even have deer in them too. My chihuahua and l were followed by a coyote after l yelled at him and put my dog on a leash, even after l picked her up. I finally threw rocks at him and he left. I know Dachsunds can fight off a coyote. Maybe there’s more food for coyotes out in the country?

I know you say not to micromanage your dog when they’re off leash, but what do you do about a dog, a lab who insists on eating every turd on the trail?! And will even get sick from it and puke up turd on your carpet?
