I'm glad someone captured on video this classic example of 70's vert skating.

I was 6 when this came out and I saw skateboarding going on in front of my house from early as 1975. My brother and his friends tearing it up.we moved to Ventura from the valley My new home had aloha skate town right down the street from my house. That's when I realized skateboarding was on for me!Sadly it closed by the time I was tall enough to skate. Great mems tho watching the big kids kill it. This video is so great. Thanks for posting. I still skate btw. Keep shredding

Thanks for posting this! My buds and I were here every friggin' weekend! Got to see Shogo and some of the other Z-Boys skate. It was awesome, but intimidating for a little 12 year old trying to be like Shogo! End of an era when they finally closed it. It was buried under the Carriage Square Cinema for years. Now I'm back in Oxnard after ten years in AZ and I hardly recognize the place. Always thought Tony Hawk should come out with a game that featured all the old parks...Good times, good times..

Not exactly buried under the cinema. It was behind it, in an alley surrounded by avocado orchards. Later, it was torn out to put in the road that is there now and the strip mall next to it. My brother used to skate there all the time. That is my dad's blue station wagon with wood panel driving through a scene. He worked at the Post Office at the west end of that alley. It's bonkers how much Oxnard has changed and I feel old saying..."back in the day..." all the time.

+BigSkippy1263 Sometimes I watched my brother and his friends skate but never thought to bust out my little Kodak Instamatic. Just memories - thank goodness for the internet.

In the past originally more skaters were goofy and backside to be frontside and regular was considered to be different

I always loved "having the guts to eat shit." So Jerry Valdez was responsible for that travesty of a half pipe? Over vertical walls with 3' of transition!
