I am a med student in South Africa - you explain a topic in twenty minutes that takes my lecturers two hours, and I can recall a lot more after one of your videos than after a lecture. if anyone is looking for understandable and high quality content - this is it.

I love you man... I literally teared up.. I finally feel like I understand how aldosterone works! I’ve been feeling pretty dumb/down lately, and now.. I feel like things are getting brighter. I know this may sound like a lot, but I really felt bad for not understanding it, especially since I’m currently in the endocrine module at my med school and exams are right after it Thank you so much man God bless you and may you have a wonderful life filled with joy, friendship, and love

I’m a person with Panhypopituitarism which I’ve had for over twenty years. I was diagnosed at Mass. General in 2000 and barely understood what it was and what all my replacement hormones were going to do. Really wish that your informative videos had been available way back when I first got the difficult and very rare disease that I live with. It is helping me to understand many things that I wasn’t getting a handle on until now. You are such a help to patients as well as med students. Many thanks!

Its a great video, really enjoyed it! There is one small error, angiotensin 2 works by the IP3 pathway not cyclic AMP-thats for ACTH!
@w0rtexn128

it depends on what kind of angiotensin 2 receptor is it binds to, if it is AT1 it's IP3 pathway if angiotensin 2 binds to AT2 receptors it will stimulate c-AMP pathway.

Isn't angiotensin 2 effects mediated through PIP2 pathway?
@mariaarmas9735
5 жыл бұрын
Exactly actually binds to Gq and works through the PLC, cleaving PIP2 into DAG and IP3. IP3 favors Ca+2 release, DAG and Ca+2 lead to PKC formation for later gene expression and protein phosphorylation.

The Angiotensinogen II receptor is not a Gs receptor, it's a Gq receptor which means that it uses DAG & Ca2+ (activation of PKC).

On conversion of progestrone into 11- deoxycorticosterone by an enzyme 21- hydroxylase. I think I spot a mistake, u missed out 17 OH progestrone. I think according to the other video, 21 hydroxylase is responsible for the conversion in Cortisol or that step is not present in Aldosterone?
