These colors are so vibrant and they dilute with water so beautifully. My favorite has to be Byakuroku, that shade of bright turquoise/teal is what I live for!

What beautiful colors! Is there a key difference between gansai paint and gouache or watercolor? The binder these paints use seem so much more reactive then the traditional gum Arabic used in watercolors

Such beautiful colors! This video encourages me to create a sheet of test colors for my paints too... I often go in for a paint to realize the hue is a little different wet than dry and no longer what I wanted. Also this channel is overall dangerous for the wallet when a collector *coughHOARDERcough* like me is watching...

as always so relaxing! also I like the fact how different by structure the paints are from the ones european manufacturers do, and the colours are also kinda different. thanks for the review, now I'm waiting for your next video with the art 😍

The design of the box is very beautiful, I like the color wooden box. I haven't come into contact with this product, but I believe it will have a mild, soothing scent. I will continue to follow you and look forward to you using this color box for a painting soon.
Thank you! I really enjoyed the pretty colors and it was really interesting to hear your thoughts on the colors and their cultural associations and meanings. Akasi? The bright, light blue with a hint of green? In the US we often call that turquoise, after a gemstone of the same color. Thanks for sharing so many pretty things and such interesting info. 💖

Thank you. This video helps me to realize that I need to have a pallet of color like this, instead of remember the name and the exact shade of color I need. I don’t paint a lot, so when it time to paint, I totally forget the shade of color I want. Gansai colors are really pretty and giving you a calm, peaceful feeling.
I'm blue-yellow colourblind, and I loved hearing how you described the colours :D

Really great and informative video!!😁 I also sometimes use the set i have, but its the standart 48 color set, gansai tambi, so i dont know if theyre identical to the one in this video even if they have the same name but propably yes, this is only a limited edition box no? Some colors are really beautiful and i have a few i almost always use when using watercolors😅 but there are also a few i had really problems at the start because they are different compared to normal watercolors with arabic gum😔 so i had to research online what all the colors are and can do good or not, but i wish at that time there was a video like yours! That realy would have helped me! Thats why i think this video is really great, and because many people use the kuretake gansai colors, there will be many people happy about this video and the information!😁

@@kaitekiart7666 that would also be great to watch, you trying them😁 hehe i totally though they also were from kuretake because they have the same big size and form and i have seen them in this style until now only from kuretake😅 but well that brand is the only thing in europe we can buy normal in a store if its about japanese or traditional japanese watercolors🥲
Did I hear that the set was for the 270th anniversary of the paint manufacturer. No wonder, since Ueba Esou is located in Kyoto, where 'previous war' sometimes refers to Onin War (1467 - 1477), not the 2nd World War.

Could you do a video to compare it to Kuretake Gansai Tambi?
I learned quite a bit from this video, thank you for posting it. I have been learning a few things on the side about illustration, and I do believe that your work is some of the prettiest stuff being done these days. I do hope that you will continue drawing and painting those amazing, pictures. I also, once again, would love to see how you would illustrate a complete set of Tarot card. With 78 images, you would be quite busy for a long while, but the results would be breathtaking, I honestly believe that. Can't wait for the next video. Thanks again.

ما هو اسم هذه الالوان وما هي ماركتها ومن اين يمكن شرائها
@awatercolourist
Hi , I've looked to the link you provided in a comment below , but I am a little confuse . Are they for paint the face ? or they are for painting on the paper ( refer about normal painting ) ? They are soo beautiful.
@aki0yk465
2 жыл бұрын
It could be a bit confusing :-) When you say gansai (顔彩), it means water colour for painting, and ganryo(顔料) means pigments in general. My wild guess is that the character gan(顔, kao meaning face) is used here because same pigments are used for cosmetics and water colours.

I have the notion that it would be better to spray in advance the paints in order to protect the tip of your brush. What is the lightfastness of these colours. Have you ever tested them?
@kaitekiart7666

The pigments they use are the same as those used in traditional Japanese paintings and are relatively light resistant. But I think it depends on the color.

@@kaitekiart7666 Thank you for the immediate reply. Your channel is great and I've learned a lot about nihonga painting technique from your tutorials. In fact I used some of these techniques on my watercolors as for example to mount the paper on a panel and use gelatin glue to dissolve regular watercolours in order to make them somewhat more waterproof. I didn't use though the traditional Japanese art materials that you use on your videos because it is almost impossible to get them here. Greetings from Athens Greece :)
