You should also mention that AGS is also very strict in their grading, using the same master stones for color and very strict cut and clarity measurements. Some even say AGS is more strict than GIA..

Now, isn’t it much easier to cut cost on color when you’re setting in yellow gold? If you’re setting in white gold or platinum the yellow in the diamond is going to be much more noticeable no?

Just ask for ASET picture. If they dont have one, then skip until they have one. If they have none, walk off the store. I can't tell you the number of GIA triple excellent grades diamonds that are poor light performer. Yes, CUT is the most important C in a diamond, but not the GIA certified CUT grade, It's literally the cut by the diamond cutter, that can only be seen on the ASET image. Yes an GIA excellent cut will give you some assurance that it's *likely* not gonna be a mediocre diamond, but it's absolutely not a garantee that it is gonna ag real light performer. Again, ask for the ASET image or walk away...It's a simple as that...There is a reason why Tiffany say they reject 95% of all diamonds: that's because they go by the ASET images...That's the only reason they x3-4 their prices. An ASET scope can be bought for $50 on the American Gemological society website

the best are the comments about grading when i doubt there is a GIA GG commenting on this page, the relief and location of a imperfection can cause 1, 2 or 3 grading clarity differences. Grading is not cut and dry as everyone would like to think. It's always best to view the diamonds in person. Have the store order in a few on memo if they don't have a large selection.

Be careful with inflated appraisals. Make sure you are getting your stone's appraised by a GIA certified Graduate Gemologist. Insurance companies are smart and know an inflated appraisal when they see one.

This guy is the scammer my friend. He's bought and paid for by James Allen. Shop around at your local independent stores, and I can almost guarantee that if you can find one with a GG, you will feel way more confident in your purchase than buying online. These online sites tell you to go by the 4 C's, which is absolutely true, but they never explain how important Cut is to the stone. You can have a D VVS2 diamond, but if the three cut grades are in the Good range, that stone will look sub par compared to a H SI1 with XXX rating in Cut.

H is still in the near colourless range. I would recommend out of the 4Cs to make sure that the cut is excellent to ideal :) You can also get lower clarities around the SI range that are still eye clean, good luck!

Tristopher nuggington if you're worried she'll compare her diamond with others doesn't really say much about how she feels about what your diamond means to her. Doesn't say much about her either, if that's what is important.

Hello @Rick Buck, I'm Ricardo (a perfectionist too) from México. I want to thank you a lot for your information. Im sure you´re helping a lot of people. I just have one question since I'm combining all the best attributes and getting prices to high for me; which attributes would yo give more weight between Color and Clarity? And from which level and up would you say the money is not worth it in each case?. Bonus question; is it that big of a deal to get 0.95 Carat instead of 1? Which cut is more trendy nowadays? Princes Cut or Round
@vicky6012
6 жыл бұрын
you will be far cheaper buying a diamond just the magic half carat full carat mark, so if you want a 1 carat you should ask for 90-95-98, you'll save , if you want 50 points, go something like 40 pints 45

I have always heard from professionals that cut and color are more important to the brilliance of the diamond than clarity. Of course, you want to stay in SI1 or VS and up but I noticed that you put more emphasis on clarity than color. Could you elaborate? Thank you!
@RickBuck
5 жыл бұрын
Cut is most importance to the brilliance of the Diamond, then Clarity then Color... In my opinion. But it just depends on what you consider important. Maybe you could care less about brilliance and only color and size. As far as Color goes it is just what color you prefer at your price point.

Mostly good information. But, buying a diamond of the internet just because the certificate is the same, is just buying a certificate. I can show you 5 or 10 or 100 legitimate certificates with similar rating, but some diamond are just better. Bottom line, in most cases, the diamonds off the internet are the ones that the good independent jewelers pass on. But, like I said mostly good information, educate yourself and take your time. Don't impulse buy diamonds.
