@meiraloraduncan8953

Gettin BeyWay You missed her point and basically said what she had said. Because the woman picking out her setting wanted rose gold and she chose a diamond of such a high clarity the color of the gold was going to show through the diamond giving it a yellow tint similar to that found in a stone with k,l,or m . Because of that she was just pointing out that he could save money and get a stone that was already that color since the setting will make it look like a cheaper stone. Personally I agree. If you want a diamond that large with a very high level of clarity you need to set in a white gold or platinum setting. Because why pay a fortune on a 3 caret diamond with a high level of clarity and set in a yellow or rose gold setting that is going to make it look like a cheap low quality diamond and have people think that you actually did buy the yellow diamond. Plus the rose gold settings will go out of fashion in just a few years. Rose gold looks better paired with different gemstones that share similar undertones like Morganite , garnets, rubies, opals and similar gems that have a red, pink or iridescent quality to it.

@@meiraloraduncan8953 - You keep referring to the high clarity of the stone, when talking about color reflection of the mounting through the stone. Don't you mean high color? Clarity only affects color when you get way down in the "I" level "clarities," - or, more to the point, at that level, *lack* of clarity, when the very obvious inclusions (defects) include cloudiness and clumps of carbon elements that actually block light from transiting through the stone. Anything better than that, like the level these guys are going for, isn't going to make a bit of difference in color transmission. Color of the diamond in the "colorless" D-E-F and higher "near colorless" G-H ratings is what matters when the stone is not only obviously very clear (inclusion-wise) and is being set in a mounting that brings it's own color to the mix, like yellow and rose gold, where the prongs and/or the head is not being made of platinum or 14kt/18kt white gold. Changing out the head - the basket and prongs - to a white metal, makes a big difference in displaying the true color of the stone. With a basket mounting like they picked out, if they decided to make the head out of platinum, the band would be far enough from the stone to keep that color to a minimum in affecting the stone color. And since their rings are all custom made from the get-go, they should be able to do that as well, unless the mounting were an integral part of the whole piece, and couldn't be separated out from the band. This one doesnt seem to have that limitation. But the clarity, in the price range these guys can obviously afford so easily it's not even worth discussing, isn't going to have an effect on the color no matter what color metal the mounting is made from. As for rose gold going out of fashion in a few years, whether or not that happens shouldn't make a bit of difference. But, it will happen, just like it's been happening for decades. Rose gold HAS gone in and out of fashion since the Victorian and Edwardian eras. But the women whose engagement and wedding rings were made of that metal - or even of yellow gold, which has done the same since before the 1920's, when platinum became not only more workable, but also fashionable, (and white gold came hot on its heels as another new metal) - didn't go running to the nearest jeweler on a whim to have their rings changed out to the "metal of the moment." Whatever became of "With THIS ring, I thee wed,"? Yes, yes, I know - it's become all the rage to go upgrading wedding rings every other minute, because fashions are changing that quickly too, but that rather degrades the sentimental value of the originals. And, it's very odd, and sad, that the original conversation regarding the fact that "this is the ring - or, these are the rings - she'll be wearing *for the rest of her life,* so it's important that she's happy with it" still takes place, but it's obviously not meant anymore.

@sharid76
5 жыл бұрын
Highly likely that those settings sitting and glittering in the cases are NOT the "real deal." If you look for a minute at the VAST number of engagement ring settings, wedding bands, etc., in the cases, and start adding up the dollars it would cost the jewelry store owner to buy all those rings in actual gold and platinum, *PLUS* all the melee or side diamonds that are already in them, that's a considerable amount of money. Plus a considerably higher insurance coverage liability as well. Not to mention, a daylight robbery, when all those rings are not sitting safely inside the store safe, could wipe them out. For display purposes, most all stores that "make to order" like this use well made sterling silver, either rhodium plated for white gold, or gold plated for yellow gold or rose gold color mountings, and set them with very high quality, but still cheap CZs. Then, an open mounting for a center stone, like they showed here, will accommodate the chosen diamond for demonstration purposes. It would also be prohibitively expensive to have a waiting "shelf stock" of every style in most of the popular sizes, made from real metals and genuine stones. Chances are, they would need to resize stock pieces at some point, which is always less desirable than making them originally in the needed size. It is much more cost effective and creates better customer relations to create a brand new ring from fresh materials and to accommodate the specific size of the chosen center stone, as well as the wearer's ring finger. It's not been handled and tried on by dozens of other women. And the structure of the mounting and the band can be balanced to each other, increasing the strength of the whole piece. Plus, the cost of the labor and raw materials are more in line with the constantly fluctuating costs of both for each one. Producing a ring in a Size 4 and another just like it in size 8 or a 9 each pose their own challenges. Sometimes even the number of melee (accent or side) stones and their settings must be increased or decreased accordingly, and resizing a "stock" model can increase the problems accordingly. I have several display pieces myself, all in the same size, from a line of display preset rings, which were designed for a specific size center stone, and so were made complete from the beginning, as well as coordinating channel set wedding band styles that came completely set. I bought them off a friend who works in a high dollar jewelry store who does exactly that. The store owns them, so when styles change, as styles often do, they take out the slightly out of style models they aren't going to sell anymore, and liquidate them, by selling them to employees, who either keep them and wear them themselves, or sell them on one of the online vendor sites. I paid very little for each ring, and you simply cannot tell them from the real deal without physically testing them for metal content and stone type. They are gorgeous. I wear them frequently, but they don't show signs of wear, and nobody has guessed their origins or their content. And, the very simple style this couple selected would have been very easy to create from rose gold plated sterling silver and Swarovski CZs.

@sharid76
5 жыл бұрын
Yes ma'am - marriage IS work! But if you BOTH do it right, it won't even seem like work. It will be the best decision you ever made. But, you do have to work at it. The minister at my oldest brother's first wedding (he lost his wife 15 years later from severe heart problems) said during the ceremony that marriage is not 50/50. It's 100% from both sides, all the time. Each partner must give their all to the relationship, and when something happens to one so that's not possible for a while, then the other partner must pick up the slack, until they can, if they can. I'm here to tell you, that's 100% truth. And, after 43 years of one marriage for each of us, I think I can speak to that with some authority! 😉 We were very young in calendar years when we married. I was 19 and he was 20. But we were already quite mature for our ages. He was on his 2nd year in the Air Force, and I already knew how to run a home - budget the money, shop, cook, clean, take care of children, having helped raise three much younger siblings very close together in age from the time I was 8 years old; had graduated high school; had a job, and the two of us paid for our own wedding, with my mom and me doing most of it ourselves. We didn't live together before getting married, mostly because I didn't want to, and neither did he. But, mostly we wouldn't have been able to afford it. Back in the mid 70's, low ranking enlisted Airmen didn't make much money alone. But, married Airmen get several different allowances that single ones do not. A pretty fair housing allowance to pay for living off base with dependents (now days it's all much better), a separate rations allowance when they don't live in barracks or eat in the "Chow Hall," - those two things were always referred to together as "Separate Rats and BAQ" almost like they were one word! Plus, as a dependent, I got all my medical care, and a lot of my basic dental care for free. Including all prescriptions. All I had to do was show my ID at the desk, pick up my scripts, and go home. Now, there's insurance for all that, and I have no idea what all is involved, but it's not the same. I think it's called TriCare now. Anyway, there is also the Commissary, or base grocery store, where everything is sold at cost. But you must have an ID to get in, and to check out. (Or you did then. I don't know how all this works now.) Plus there's the Base Exchange, like a department store; same with the ID, and base gas station, which was quite a bit cheaper than off base; the beauty shop, the laundry/dry cleaners/tailor shop; the movie theater; The Rec Center with a huge pool; and so on. There were so many things we would not be able to do if I wasn't a legitimate dependant with an ID Card, that it just wasn't worth it to prove some kind of point. Besides, we wanted to get married. So, we did. No kids right away. That waited a while first. We just lived our new life together, had no bills other than regular living expenses, we had a nice little apartment where the rent paid all the utilities except the phone. Cable came much later on. Like years. In fact, we didn't even have a TV for 6 months! Didn't miss a thing. If we wanted to watch TV, we went on base to the barracks where he used to live, visited with friends, and watched TV in the Day Room. It was all good. In fact, I wish we could go back and do it all again! Anyway, two grown children and 7 grandchildren later, we're all good! And I wouldn't change much of any of it! 😉 Not too much at all.

@@IONE_the_Enby 2-3 carats will cost more than that. But since it is oval it is cheaper than a round cut diamond with the same specs. Once you get over a carat diamond prices jump significantly at each poplar carat weight mark.

We couldn’t afford anything too expensive so I have a silver and simulated diamond ring as well! I got my rings from SimplyBridall on Etsy and I am sooo happy with them. and I only paid $120 for both my engagement ring and band.

Go to Amazon and buy a moissanite set in silver for the same price. It's better than CZ AND diamond. You'll be ever more happy with it

After pricing comparable diamonds..round cut... 1 carat of the highest grade, near perfect...talking retail: around $23,000.00 !! 2.5 carat- DEFINITELY- around $50,000.00.. from popular retail outlets..AVERAGE retailers like-Helzbergs..Zales, Kays. So, her choice- get the facts & do the math folks!

Personally I do not see the point of buying above a vs2 diamond unless you are getting an emerald cut. The inclusions are invisible to the naked eye. You’ll pay thousands more for not having inclusions no one can see

Very nice classic ring. Congrats! You should always get the best cut possible, color can be adjusted up or down by the color of the gold, rose or yellow gold being more forgiving to a stone with lower grade color that means you can then get a bigger stone and more diamond for your money. Brilliant round cut is the most forgiving on inclusions. But oval is classic and makes the diamond look bigger. 👍🏻 Please do your homework before you buy and compare prices between different stores. Also beware of modern lab created diamonds slick marketing also can make an unsuspecting customer thinking they have a “ real” diamond. Make sure the stone has a grading report that states it is a natural or mined diamond. Lab created stones are expensive and really have no trade in value, if you buy a Lab created stone ask the store if there is a policy to upgrade the lab created stone later on..... I guarantee they will not allow a trade up on a lab created stone like on a natural mined diamond. Buyer beware.

That is an ugly ring, made only for "bling" lovers but not for people who would want to wear their engagement ring every day of their lives. This one will catch on everything all the time and end up being a nuisance. It's only for show!

This is exactly what I'm always thinking when I see such rings, plus, how do you wash your hands with those? I wouldn't take the ring off every time I wash my hands during the day...

That was extremely disrespectful. Did they make you buy the ring? Hop off the vid and go somewhere else.

You do realize this bands were only “test” bands right? Not the actual band on final rings. Those temporary bands have to stand tall because the side clasps have to go completely over the loose stone so it stays in place. This allows the customers to see how the ring might look like in the permanent setting. This temp band also allows the jeweler to allow the couple to take the ring outside (the tall claws keep the loose diamond from falling out.)

You should always set a stone in platinum -- not only to reflect the light but it is way harder than gold. The ring itself can be gold but never the setting. btw -- repulsive lips on both women.

I agree I thought 5,000 dollars was outrageous but that ring they just got cost at least 50,000 based on the specs. How do you walk around with 50,000 dollars on your finger?
