Welcome to another one of my delightfully random projects. This week im restoring all of the parts that were in the Impreza engine bay.

In my previous video ( • Engine Bay Painting ( ... ) You seen seen me take all the parts out of the bay and paint it up better than factory condition. Now its the turn of all the other parts, air conditioning pipes, pipe clips, brake master cylinder, clutch master cylinder, clutch slave cylinder, lots of bracketry, washer bottles, wiper motor, brake servo etc etc.
So in the video you will hear me say that i wont be showing the full restoration process on all of the parts as the video would need to be hours long and no one has time for that so instead i show you the full restoration of a couple of the parts, the sensor pack and bonnet catch to be specific. with these items i strip them down into component form then start the process.
First up as always is a good cleaning and de-greasing in the parts washer, after drying the parts are put into the sand blaster to remove all paint, rust and other crap that may be lurking on them.
After this the parts are split up into whether they are going to be painted plated or polished, the paint parts are the easiest to deal with as once they are rust free and bare metal all they need is a coat of etch primer then a nice thick coat of 2k gloss black and left to cure. The plated parts are the most difficult as they have to be spotlessly clean and polished to get a good plating finish so this takes a good deal of time.
Once all of the coating processes were done everything was left to cure before the reassembly stage. Once reassembled its just a case of putting it all back in the engine bay. Some items are purposely left out or loose to ease engine fitting when the time comes.

A little History
The project in question is the engine bay in my 94 Subaru Impreza WRX. As i can be heard saying in the intro of this video i love impreza's and i wanted a rust free one as all the UK ones suffer from lots of rust issues so in 2004 i imported this car from Japan and it was totally rust free when it arrived all those years ago. It has a couple of blisters here and there now but thats to be expected when living in Scotland.
Anyway im getting off track, I was having lots of fun driving the car at full boost everywhere until 2014 when the thought popped into my head " lets go for more power" so i took the engine out and begun the process of having it all upgraded, better gaskets, race bearings, forged pistons, con rods etc etc then life got in the way and the engine was put to the side and the car was stored in a shed for the past 5 years.
The initial condition of the car looks horrifying but its only a thick layer of dust and crud on it and there is a good layer of carnuaba wax separating all the crud from the paint so a quick pressure wash and she'll be looking good again but for now the focus is on the engine bay.

A new addition to my videos from now on will be a water mark and my channel name popping up in random places throughout the video as im getting rather tired of people re-uploading my content as their own i hope you guys understand.
