Hang in there man! Maybe this sailing season is going to be more about boat maintenance. And hey, you’re still on your boat😊. God bless

Hang in there, Captain. Out here it seems the highs are really highs and the lows are really low. Get that boat in seaworthy condition and carry on. Hoping to run into you somewhere warm.

I think this season is been a test of my commitment to sailing. Most would pack it in. It's been very frustrating. I usually work in film. The year started out with a film strike! I worked as a landscaper at 20$ an hour would you believe? Then it's been one thing after another. There is good news tho. I do have a bit of luck coming up other videos..

Michael you need a Honda generator, you need good solar and enough batteries to supply the energy that you need. You have to fix stuff when it fails🥴love your videos 👍😍

And the flaming dumpster continues to roll. From a content perspective, it's awesome. From a safety and seaworthiness perspective I remain flabbergasted. Are you aware of the expression "nothing works on this boat but the captain?" It's a bit deceiving because when the captain actually works and undertakes required maintenance then everything else usually works as well. Please go to work and sort it out. I'm definitely not a cheerleader but I am rooting for you. Of course, if you do fix everything, then your videos are probably going to be boring!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣

That video was shot 1 month ago. Engine repaired and running better than before. Sails repaired and up VHF working AIS programmed. Autopilot fully functional. New batteries installed. Bottom cleaned via scuba. Dingy full of air and holding. Outboard Engine working no oil issues. Today I ordered a danfoss BD35f HD compressor and new relay... Things are better. Even tho there was a film strike and I had to cut grass at 20$ and hour for 5 months(at my age!) to be here I'm still holding strong. Dumpster fire is slowly burning out. Will only move forward in the right conditions and with everything working..

Keep your head up and push on, it does get better. That area sucks to breakdown in. We are south of you in marathon key. I am trying to get my boat ready for extended cruising. I've been fighting a similar battle. I have 3 major projects to get done, before I can leave. Start making headway on my projects and something else breaks. It's frustrating, but I look at it this way, my systems should be good to go cruising by the time I get my three upgrades done. Right now I am installing a watermaker, next is solar pannels, and then finally a new autopilot. In between I have changed two builge pumps, a silinoid for my main electric toilet, two sea strainer, two engine room blowers, the water heater,, the main cabin air conditioner, and much more. It has been a process, but again everything should be good soon. I've already changed out my whole navigation system, battery bank, new diesel generator, davits, new tender and outboard etc. Keep pushing faward and we shall see you out there.

See you out there, Captain! It's just a matter of will and hard work! It's one thing to make a youtube video and it's another to "entertain" see you out there at sea and in the wild parts of Stocking Island Gtown Bahamas if you Dare!!...

@sailingEV888 I'm just skirting the Bahamas. I am more interested in the rest of the Caribbean. I wanna go to the more mountainous islands. The Bahamas are cool, but it's very shallow in parts. And not much variety of scenery. We plan on sailing the entire Caribbean, and then making the decision to circumnavigate or return to Florida.

@jeffreyalberson9742 I can't help but look at Madagascar on Google earth or Thailand. If you are in a position and have means to go further, just go. Having the right vessel .. funds and will is what separates those who make it to Georgetown every season let alone other further destinations.

@sailingEV888 we have the right boat. I'm on a Tayana 52. The funds are there also. I am retired military, with full pension. The boat actually completed a circumnavigation in 2016 already with previous owners. We are a family of 5, and are eager to go, just trying to make the boat as self sufficient as possible before we go.

You probably already know this. When you take apart an engine, take photos at beginning and every major step. Mark things (forward/starboard or method you understand), make sure valves go back into same holes, with same springs, same thing with injectors. Note/photo how the gaskets go before removing. These types of things help you put engine back together successfully. Not sure what type of inverter/charger you have, but precharge the inverter's capacitors from bat pos to inverter bat pos input, using a cheap 12v/10 ohm resistor to slowly charge caps, then quickly make the permanent pos cable connection and avoid the spark. I'm sure you have heard about regular engine alternators overheating when charging LiFePo4 bats since the bats can draw very high charging currents. you can mitigate by running engine at like 1800 rpm when charging the bat, this speed blows more air over alternator from the fan blades on the alternator, keeping it cooler. Also LA bat and Lifepo4 bats in parallel when engine charging will work, as the LA provides resistance to alternator putting out too much and overheating. All this may not affect you, if you have remote alternator regulation.

I like this comment and may mention it in a future video. As for my time with my Yanmar 2Qm20 marine diesel engine, I meticulously took pictures and had part bags labeled. I watched every video I could and have both paper and digital copies of the manual. I have all related tools to do a top end rebuild on board at any time. The two damaged head gaskets side by side tell an interesting story which I will show in future videos..

Look at it this way, no drama no ratings. However a minimum of prep work is a must unless you want problems you can’t recover from.
