If you’d excuse me, I have a question Is it possible for triple floodgates to be placed on scaffold? If so, wouldn’t it make the dam more efficient? Since water passes through scaffold, it would mean that when the dry season comes, you can just change which floodgate level is open, whilst you don’t have to waste resources by reconstructing again and again. But trust me, I am no pro, nor have I ever played this game, just thought some ideas could help. Thanks for taking the time to read my thoughts.

@@palmberry5576 He could make the water flow along the cliffs, watering the perfect balance of land to grow crops. Think of it like an aqueduct, that snakes it's way around the mountains, and down into the valleys. It becomes like a game of Snake, where you just want to avoid running into your own tail, while still utilizing the greatest length of the map for a canal that snakes around it while finding the balance of land left not underwater to grow a little more food than you need, to keep enough beavers alive, to build and grow the population until the most length; the largest possible volume of water, is held back, maximizing the amount of fertile land needed to maintain demands for food and wood. An aqueduct is a good analogy; bringing water down from the highest mountains, getting the longest distance and providing fresh water to the most two-dimensional area but in this case, areas of that 2D space are at different altitudes, or, on different values of z. Another way to look at it might be a gravitational Rube Goldberg machine, where you want a marble to travel the furthest length of track. It would be a beaver amusement/water park with the longest log ride possible. Almost like playing a variant of Roller Coaster Tycoon. Now imagine that, but with water pumps, and water towers, such that you could generate enough power to pump water from the spring, up to the highest z-level of the map, and then harness the fall of that water to make even more power. It breaks the laws of physics; conservation of energy. We shouldn't be able to gain more kinetic energy than we start with potential energy, but, if the game didn't account for that, it could break physics. Maybe why there is not a pump and plumbing system that involves moving water to a higher level, yet. In a perfect setup, you would take the most advantage of the z axis that you could. Imagine the game, Snake, in three dimensions, but you can not cross under or over, your own tail. Another game, with similar water mechanics in three dimensions, is Dwarf Fortress, but with that you could run water beneath water, so long as you spared one z level in-between, so that you are basically making tubes with a cross section of 3x3, where the center piece is water. Just, imagine the densest plumbing simulator, where water comes in at one corner of the cube, and is piped the longest length, through the cube, to one of the bottom corners. That would be a different game than Timberborn, but the topographic, sort-of, geometric idea, is the same. However, with food being grown on land that needs it's z axis open to the sky, and water also flowing, not above or beneath other canals, it's a different problem to solve. Every piece of terrain is it's own problem to solve. Wall the whole map up to the z-level of the water source, then carve out channels along the contours of the terrain to balance arable land and power generation... along with everything else that takes up some of the 65,536 tiles on a 256x256 map.

I've found that two drop-off points are all you need to supply a temporary builder district: one for water and food, one for building materials. Put three routes for each and your beavers will have 100 of each item in constant supply (assuming your production line is good). I did this when building my own dam expansion and put carrots, bread and water in one and logs and planks in the other, and migrated six beavers to handle the building. Worked like a charm!

Build a lake town at the middle of the lake on top of the dam for a real beaver lodge. Flatten some of the edge of the hill next to the dam (left side) to balance it with the right or make it a peak like a mountain. Centralize production of certain products like farm and log. Can go further with carrots, potato, wheat, logs, planks, gears, paper, dynamite, books. I was kinda expecting the bottom of the dam to be pure industry without food production in the area. And that you'll try to maximize the power from the dam. Because in reality that's what we do. If we were to go back to the 1800, most production and manufacturing was done near waterways for power and transport, goods and wastes.

One of the other things you could do is cut in a farm under water. So find a good size of land, dam wall the outsides of the dirt have stairs to the farmers, and there ya go. farms surrounded by water, with their houses floating upstairs.

@@backwardsocks oh, i meant to put it in the block just in front, i'll try and do a schematic. Front view of the dam: ⬛⬛⬛⬛⬛⬛⬛ ⬛⬛🔴🔴🔴⬛⬛ ⬛⬛🔴🔴🔴⬛⬛ ⬛⬛🔴🔴🔴⬛⬛ 🟤🟤🟤🟤🟤🟤🟤 Side view of the dam: 💧⬛ 💧⬛🔴 💧💧🔴 💧💧🔴 🟤🟤🟤🟤🟤🟤 The only issue is if you can suspend levees, or just build them and demolish them later

When I saw your first damn, I thought that was a massive undertaking. I was wrong. The end result looks amazing.

I don’t know if this is true for all beavers but the beavers in Patagonia don’t live in their dams they live in lodges that look like domes. The lodges are sometimes close to the dams but they are definitely separate. Also before anyone says that beavers don’t live in Patagonia, they do and they are an invasive species and they are destroy a lot of trees. Since beavers don’t have predators here they just isn’t anything to get rid of them. They are just kind of a pest that’s nearly impossible to get rid of. Honestly the colony Skye made to build the side of the dam is probably a more accurate place for the beavers to live.
