Thank you.I am just moving from early printed books to manuscripts since I retired and this has really got my eye in tune.

WOW. I did think Ottoman scripts were hardest. This exploded my eyes. Thanks for this extremely fun lesson madam! I see myself lucky to discover this video.

There are rules for the long and short S but as with all grammatical rules they change over time so they might come across as inconsistent. Generally speaking, in the 18th century, the reason why a long s is used next to a short s is because that's a rule. In words with a double S you write it as a long S followed by a short S. Long S is also used in the beginning of words. So the word succession would be written as ſucceſsion. The word assistant would be aſsistant.

I really enjoyed this workshop VERY much. I'm a beginning, amateur fan of the various forms of gothic script as well as early printing in Latin and German. I unfortunately did not know how to find copies of the documents that you used. I did find the first two via a google search. If some one can tell me where they can be found I would do the course again using them. Many thanks for your hard work. I learned many new things. Erich
