You teach us not only English but also finding out something about similarities and differences between our good way and yours to do something. For example, we don't buy our food for a week, but we buy it on daily plan. Our refrig. may be much smaller and we can get food from neighbors and sometimes we don't use money, just ask for it or exchange foods. Tesco is expensive for me and go buy something like for making Japanese food or Sandwiches mayo which are extra-high prices. I'm being abroad.

Liping Fang It's a pleasure. I'm delighted that your English is improving with my lessons. Thank you for the comment. "supermarkets are always looking for new ways to make us spend more money": The expression is "to make somebody do something" and it means to force somebody to do something. "spend" in the example is the base form of the verb "spend". Another example is: "My mother is making me do my homework." = My mother is forcing me to do my homework. Best wishes, Andrew

I like these shopping advice. I have the same story as the research by BBC. One day I was wondering whether one of the five-bundle soap has a lower price or not. The caculator in my phone solved it. The result surprised me because the price of one soap in the bundle is about 0.65CNY higher than the individual regular package. PS. Please tell me mistake in my comments. I love learning from mistakes.Happy new year!

Dear Andrew, I must reiterate again, that your fine and genuine approach to your students , makes me feel towards you very much obliged: for this, I can only send YOU my warm greetings. . You advised us in the article, that you posted via your, You- tube account . It says " There is a great contradiction between buyers and sellers. The supermarket's owners ;the faceless men out to get you, which is certainly not new .It has been always with us since time memorial. It makes me sad to know , that the great endeavour to create better world has so many potholes , and any time we have the risk to fall into them. I feel that I am a little rabbit and must grow into a fox. Probably it is much to late, While my son was growing, (,the fool who I am) used to tell him, " the best approach to life is honesty". He's grown up now .He says ," all your moral pontifications don't have any validity, dad. I must remember your advice next time when I go to buy from the supermarket ;even though the prices are attractive I should kerb my greed and buy only the amount that I need.
@CrownAcademyEnglish
10 жыл бұрын
engin dincer Yes, it's all about trying to get the consumer to spend more, to consume more, to buy things that we do not want or need and the result is obviously a lot of waste. At my local supermarket, to get to the food, you have to walk through aisles and aisles of other stuff that they're trying to incite us to buy on impulse. It's just pure greed, as you say. Honesty is a rare trait but I still believe in its value. Many people these days see honesty as a sign of weakness. I don't agree. Everybody make mistakes in life, but not everybody is honest enough to admit to them. But I have plenty of respect to those people who do. :) I am sure your son is a better man for how you brought him up. Andrew

Hello and thanks for your comment. For true/false questions, you have to listen carefully for evidence about the statement. If the evidence supports the statement, it is true and if it contradicts the statement, then it is false. It is difficult at first, but you just need to practice! Best wishes, Andrew
