The forest offers a renewable raw material that can replace fossil materials in our transition to a sustainable society. But wood can also help other materials to become part of a circular flow.
The technology, called OnceMore, has been developed by the forest industry group Södra. In this innovative process, textiles are recycled on an industrial scale by separating the cotton from the polyester in hotel bedding, workwear, restaurant tablecloths and other end-of-life textiles. The cellulose from the cotton is then blended with cellulose from wood raw material.
