Good timing! A friend asked me to do a pet portrait of her son’s girlfriend’s dog. Gave me 3 months notice. I’ll procrastinate for 2 1/2 months usually. But I love drawing with graphite and I’m still a bit timid about watercolor. So this showed me a way to combine it with watercolor. I’m going for it!! Thanks Louise. :)

Always enjoy watching your video’s and beautiful paintings. Have you ever considered a lightbox for tracing your drawings? They are really cheap these days and it is a lot faster. I just bought one. I am wondering why I didn’t buy one sooner...well I know...they were really expensive. But not anymore. Bought an A4 lightbox for about 11 euro. I can really recommend it!

Love this Louise! and so fortutious at this moment: I found some graphite drawings I did some years back, of Johny Depp, and decided I may redraw and paint in w'colour; now I have to decide whether to do them completely as a painting - or use this method, do you think it could work with a portrait? Your opinion welcomed. I love your blouse/shirt - is it getting a bit chillier with you now - we are still awaiting a bit of summer in UK! Thanks for your hard work! Have you tried Derwent Graphitint?
@LouiseDeMasi
3 жыл бұрын
Thank you Nettie. Yes absolutely. You could do most of it in graphite and add a small section of skin in watercolour over the top of the graphite. It would be beautiful. I haven't tried Derwint Graphitint.
@nettiemoss324
3 жыл бұрын
Thank you Louise - I'll try that when I get time later. I should love to do this bird also when it arrives on Patreon. I have Graphitint pencils - they are lovely, subtle quite earthy tones. They nowadays have them I think in pans, but the pencils are great - ideal to sketch with and then they will 'melt' into background when you paint, more subtle/gentle than watercolour pencils. Have a great weekend - don't work too hard!
