As an older and seasoned hunter I can say it took me a long time to understand what you’re talking about. The modern hunter that grew up on hunting videos can end up putting unrealistic expectations on themselves. Our goal as hunters is to respect the game we’re after and don’t take more game than is needed to put food on the table. Don’t expect a 130” buck behind every tree when you’re hunting limited acreage or high pressured public land. I shoot what I need. Sometimes I pass on deer just because I’m receiving a blessing by watching them and their behavior. Robert, this short video contains some of your greatest advice. Have fun and give God thanks for the experience.

Amen brother I'm 53 been hunting since I was a teenager. Enjoy the time in the Gods great outdoors . Give thanks for everything we take and the game that gave its life. I quite hunting on Sunday and and give our Lord day his respect and honor on Sunday . In return he blessed me with two really nice bucks last season out of same stand I was able to get too.

I was sitting in that same Huddle House yesterday morning telling a good friend about yours and Mike trip. Didn't make it up a tree all day but had fun with one of my best friends of all time. There was a time that a little rain would not of kept me and him out of a tree.

Funny you talked about this. Ole Oliver and myself decided to just head to Huddle House and enjoy fellowship and a meal rather than trying to fight the rain. Lol

This is extremely valuable information. It took me awhile to learn this. I did this yesterday as a matter of fact. Skipped our opening day to spend time with my wife and out for lunch. I’ve scouted and sweated and overworked getting ready and simply needed to slow down and recalibrate.

I agree with everything you say. If it is not fun, why do it. I get more fun out of taking the grandchildren hunting. I have a 10 year old grandson who has taken a buck and a doe each of the last two years while hunting with me in archery season(using a crossbow), too small to hunt with a recurve or longbow. He does practice with me using his bear cub recurve. When he is able to draw a hunting weight stick bow, that is what he will hunt with. He has also taken a gobbler each of the past two years in the Spring season. My 7 year old grandson is starting to hunt this year so I'll be spending more of my hunting time split between the both of them. Neither one of their fathers hunt, so grandpa is the go to guy. I love it. I don't hunt on my own property because I leave it for the grandkids, they are the future of our sport. I'll be 72 before the end of this season and want to pass the little I know onto them.

@@robertcarte95 thank you..i did feel noticeable relief. Last night and this morning..idk why i cant come out of this..had over a decade of walking very close to God and spent time in the word every day for years. Just opened a door to sin somewhere along the line an it was a slow fade and now i feel like my hearts gotten hardened and i cant get untangled..cant hear Him anymore..dont wanna go out like this

@@StealthTRD God loves you and so do I. It's complicated but simple too. The price has been paid and God forgives a sincere heart. You have to forgive yourself as well. Very hard to do I have been there. Get in A Church and surround yourself with good people. Crowd the bad out! Will continue to pray and I know others on here will as well.
