You guys should try a jet curling game. Not sure how you would set it up but the idea could be that you have to eject as you touch the jet down and have the correct speed for the jet roll out and stop in the middle of a target circle that is marked out on the ground. Just a thought. Love the videos!

Former VF84 til '92. Yep, night ops has an exponential pucker factor, especially carrier landings whether your first or 84th. Still better than s@x tho. No video game can truly simulate the flying experience without having to send players to flight school but DCS is leaps and bounds ahead of the 90s era games in terms of both graphics and overall feel. I'm very happy with finding this channel.😮

Also, the taking off heavy with reduced fuel load is legit. Often it's a choice of less ordnance or less fuel, so taking off full ordnance load and immediately going to fill up on the tanker is absolutely normal. Otherwise the aircraft would go submarine off the deck on takeoff.

Fun mission video guys, thank you! I noticed the Iranian F14 was using the AIM54C. When the Shah was deposed the US Navy disabled the missiles by removing a necessary component. None were operational. Granted they somewhat reverse engineered them to the Fakour90 but that wasn't until 2011 with production in 2018. It's basically a Hawk with Phoenix fins though. The Iranian Tom Cruise in the mission should have had only AIM7 and AIM9. Still, fun to watch and I hope everyone had fun.

I’m pretty sure the night vision goggles have a gain setting so you can adjust it so lights don’t flare, like when you were approaching the carrier at the end to land

I really enjoy all these videos, countless hours burned but oh so worth it (can "Grump" be beat?), and I hate to be sending another rules lawyer note but, "The first production F/A-18A flew on 12 April 1980. After a production run of 380 F/A-18As (including the nine assigned to flight systems development), manufacture shifted to the F/A-18C in September 1987." So there is no way the F-18C would be on the big E in 1988. Keep up the great work, I really do enjoy these videos. Any chance of seeing an F-111 strike?

Helo's went in way too early in the raid. SEAD hadn't been done enough to clear them for landing at islands they should of been turned around or just sent after ships. Friendly F-14's should not of been used due to possible confliction issues with IRIAF F-14A's. It also looks like someone loaded that IRIAF F-14 with modern missiles and not the left over stuff from 1979. This raid should of been kicked off with either a CM spam of the islands or B1 carpet bombings with the F-18's on mop up. With heavy Air Superiority over the airspace. Once all that was done, then you send in the choppers. It's all about risk mitigation.

As the f14 was built for the Phoenix the restriction of no fox 3 doesn't make any sense. Nor do some of the other parameters. Also US military had GPS in use by '83/'84 so why it wasn't in use in '88 doesn't make sense.

42:00 many thanks for explaining some of the radar screen ingredients. So 'B' is the enemy, and the red square is showing your teammate that's in danger, hence the red (alert).
@smash79

I think it is the opposite actually. The red diamond is the ennemy Tomcat (the famous ''tom cruise'' that they are joking about in the debriefing) that shotdown the USS. Enterprise combat air patrol and came for Simba afterward. The ''B'' round and green element is one of the allied F14 that has been shot down, If you look around at the timer you've shared, they're other round and green element marked ''C'' and ''D'', I think it is Cap's allied aicraft doing the striking mission (Chopsticks, Simba in F18 and Bypass in the harrier II).

Great mission but 1. Probably needed to have amphibious assets do the job over helos, but seeing DCS is a"flight' simulator no need to have LC, LCVP, LARC or LAV25s😛 Just too much flat terrain for Helis... 2.And what about NGS from the Escorts, This just makes no sense to me that it isn't even on the plan from ED. the Ground reapers must S@#t tears when they have to do a mission such as this🙄
