very enjoyable watch 😄 i am glad you found my video funny! I was happy to see that you reacted to this because I was hoping that a veteran player would react and inform me on anything I missed or misrepresented A comment you make many times throughout is that I would've enjoyed the game much more had I just bought the starter kit - and I agree but there is a reason I didn't buy it. I already knew before playing it that this wasn't going to be the type of game for me, and that I would find the gameplay loop boring etc. So I instead wanted my experience to be something interesting and entertaining to a viewer, and also more challenging for me. If I had just bought the starter kit, I would've played the game for the same amount of time, and would've still gotten bored once I realized the gameplay loop is basically just an idle game. Hence why I set the arbitrary limit to not buying the kit. I think you get that the video is supposed to be comedic / for entertainment, so I play up a lot of the negatives and rage over-the-top 'cause it's funny, and that's really it. I wanted to play the role of the average person trying this game, and what their reaction might be, turned up to 11. it's like the Angry Video Game Nerd Also you're 100% right when you said I'm the type of person in WoW who complained classic was too hard, 😂. I started playing the game in Wrath but I didn't really like it too much, found it frustrating, but I came back in Cata and absolutely loved the more fast-paced instant gratification style. And I totally can't argue with your point where you said that you spend $8 a month on Entropia, that's super fair. I'm just biased since I have arbitrarily deemed that WoW is worht $15 because I like it therefore Entropia at $8 is not worth it because I don't think it's fun. BUT in that same vein, WoW has, for the most part, all players on the same playing field once they've spent that $15. The only thing differentiating players is the time spent playing the game, and actual skill. Compared to Entropia, there is that same time investment required to become powerful, but there's also a monetary aspect too. People who are putting in more than $8 a month could have a "better" experience playing the game (but like everything, it's subjective, since maybe you just enjoy clicking on shit and watching numbers go up. You don't care how big the numbers are). A lot of context regarding my frustration with the gambling / talking about earning real money is missing if you haven't watched my previous videos, as this is like the 20th game I've played that has a real cash economy. Only thing is that the games I had played before Entropia were all crypto games (Gods Unchained was one of them, which you also mentioned(I did not like that game either, big surprise)). So as part of the progression of the series, I'm more quick to call out the predatory monetization aspects since it's the focus of my video series / the channel as a whole. But yeah super enjoyable watch you make a lot of really good points and this is the exact video I want people to make in response to my content - I want to be proven wrong, I want to know what I'm not getting, and why people find this fascinating. Hope you have a good one and a Merry Christmas!

I think one veteran is going to soon I hope anyway I think Mr Lorespade has plans for it. I may not be a vet but I’ve learned from some of the best in the community both indirectly and directly. I feel salt was thrown both ways and that’s not the way it should have been I feel like. I do like your channel and watched a few other videos as well. Can’t wait to see what you have planned next. A lot of your concerns were valid but due to lack of information it’s hard to get a true gauge sometimes I have spent about 5 years trying to untangle the web that is Entropia so it does take time but I found it a good opportunity to try and address some of the concerns but either way I found the video hilarious mainly because that was me when I first found the game but once I realized how ass backwards I was it actually became fun. Not sure how. Lol 😂

@jauwn I felt like your video, while intending to be funny, was a hit piece on a game that you state "I already knew before playing it that this wasn't going to be the type of game for me, and that I would find the gameplay loop boring etc." I got the tongue-in-cheek theme of your video, but other content creators have also done hit pieces on this game with the same lack of knowledge and bias that you have. And from those videos Entropia Universe (EU) gets trashed and suffers from lack of new players because most people are too stupid to see beyond the surface of biased content. This fact becomes obvious based solely on the comments on your video. So, If you are making videos just for the AD revenue then just say that up front so your viewers know the level of the playing field. Bashing a game in a video is easy, creating intelligent and informative content about a misunderstood game takes skill and savvy. You also say, "...I want to be proven wrong, I want to know what I'm not getting, and why people find this fascinating." I would say this, do your homework. Watch more content that many veteran players have made about EU. Obbldude TV is certainly a great place to start and I love his style and content, but there is so much more content out there discussing, in depth, the economy of this game and how to play it with savvy such that you don't lose like you would in a casino. And, as I commented on your EU video: "In a casino your money or chips have a set face value that cannot change. In Entropia Universe (EU) the items you receive from hunting, mining, crafting, sweating, fruit walking, designing, buying/selling, and harvesting have values typically greater than their base (face) value." If you are sincere about being "proven wrong" about your assessment of EU then do the due diligence and watch the content that creators make highlighting how to play and hold onto your PED a lot longer. AND, how and when these players get to the point where real world $$ are withdrawn. It isn't just the virtual land owners who can withdraw their earnings. I am certain that the content that gets the most views is that which is provocative and crass. Humans are base and mostly lazy in their thinking. I am just responding as a veteran player of Entropia Universe who has taken the deep dive into this game and its economy. I make boring content that only those who want actual answers about EU watch. That doesn't diminish the game it only enhances it. Guaranteed you watched more than a few videos to learn the nuances of WoW and how to get better at the game. You probably joined a chat group or discord and friended many players and shared ideas about boss raids and the like. Probably boring content but you didn't think so when you viewed or discussed it because it was a game your wanted to play. EU content creators want more people to come play this game. And most of the veterans and content creators are extremely willing to help new players learn how to play and keep their $$. There are scammers in every game and EU is no different. The difference is that when you know how to play Entropia Universe with acuity, because you took the time to learn, it is a really rewarding game.

True. You cannot make a living in this nor make money and it’s not intended to be either. MindArk has never claimed that you can make money all it is is marketed as a real cash economy game which it is that’s it. Now I will say with the move to unreal engine 5 as well as finally being on the blockchain someday you may actually be able to make money if MindArk can get creative but I doubt that’ll happen.

I so rarely will watch an EU video for more than 20min. due to the long-winded nature of the narrator, but in your case Obbldude this was fun. I sweated Nusuls on Arkadia for 311 sweat to do a daily mission while I watched/listened - F2P. Your breakdown of Jauwn's logic is mostly spot on. I think the only thing that you and Jauwn may not be aware of is that you can Fruit Walk (yes you can run and still spot the ground items) on Next Island (daily) and get blueprints for cosmetic items that have more value than the ground items sold in bulk. Given that this is totally FREE I am amazed that it still is a viable method of earning PED. Alas, I need more comedy in my life. Great video, as always. Great to see you back making content!!

Hard to argue with that. My only point was if you get the starter pack you'll have a better time and would be giving the game a true try. It takes a special person to play this game which is why I like it. I like that it's niche. Me, addicted? I haven't jumped in the game since I recorded this like 2 days ago lol. Also only reason I brought WoW into it was because it is a cash grab too and you don't have an opportunity to get your money back. I would rather spend money in Entropia and actually progress with the money I spend then spend it on a max level character or a mount that really doesn't enhance your gameplay at all. Or diablo immortal spending 200 bucks an hour and legit getting nothing back. My point is that Blizzard is equally as bad as Mindark if not worse.

What he said about slots is factual regarding the law. And it's not how much you're making, it's how much of the money you put in is returned to you. But the law defines that you must have a return of, on average, 80-95% of what you spend. So you're always losing money unless you hit a jackpot. For example, let's say you spent $100 on a slot machine. At a minimum, you would receive $80 back. You didn't MAKE $80, what really happened is you lost $20.
@obbldudeTV

I don't doubt that. However the odds are usually not along those guidelines in practice. If you play long enough and bet enough then yes it is true. But on average those odds happen less often.

@@obbldudeTV That's very likely, I was just pointing out that by law, it was true. They are designed to take your money, just not outright haha. And funnily enough, I've never lost money on slots. For some reason every time I've decided to play, I go in with $20 and walk out with a minimum of $200. The most I've won is over $500. I'm not an addictive type, so when I see a big win like that (big to me, not a massive jackpot, I know) I will just walk away, haha.

Second Life veteran here, and wanted to make one correction to a statement made about it early in this video: Land is not how people make money anymore. Hasn't been since the early days. So if any Entropia players are ever curious about becoming a Second Life land baron, don't bother. But where IS the money being made in Second Life? Content creation! It's actually rather easy to earn money if you have any skills in 3D modeling and/or texturing. If you play games ranging from The Sims to Skyrim you will recognize familiar names from their modding communities running stores in Second Life. Whether it be clothing, hair, furniture, homes... it's a valid marketplace for creatives.

Don't get the plat pack, gold is all you'll need. Gold gives you all the gear you'll need to get started, the extra stuff in plat you can just pick up later if you want, but you'll be better off getting gold to get started and if you decide to deposit more, you can but the specific things you want for what you do enjoy doing in the game.
