There are technical colleges in the US that offer 2 year degrees. They are primarily focused around working adults. They basically cut most of the fluff out so a bachelors degree, while it would be more rounded and “better”, doesn’t really teach you that much more on a cost-benefit ratio. However, most companies want bachelor degrees unfortunately.

The final job listing for the accounts payable accountant, at the 19:09 mark, says it requires 3 years experience. How is this entry level? It seems like getting an accounting degree is incredibly overrated. Here's a job that requires three years experience and pays 55k. That's not particularly good. It seems like there are a lot easier and enjoyable degrees and career paths to be making similar money. Most of the entry level jobs I see (the ones requiring 0-2 years experience) pay around 18 dollars per hour, which is barley over minimum wage in New York (Min Wage is 15 per hour). I just saw a post tha required a BS in accounting, preferred a Masters and progress towards a CPA, and required 3-5 years experinece and the job was paying 45k per year. Really amazing.

I have a finance degree and would like to work in accounting. Do you think I need to add an associate degree in accounting or bachelors in accounting to get my foot in the door?

If the average pay as about $47k, why are there so many different positions also included in your video showing a pay scale in the high $50k?

The keyword is “average”

I understand what average means. I'm referring to jobs beyond the scope of positions in your video. A lot of companies put a salary range in their job description but in all actuality is usually much lower for entry level.

Wow! I was once an accounts payable specialist for more than 2 years in a real estate company using SAP software, doing the same from the job description that you mentioned here. What's the best things should I need to do in order for me to gain extensive knowledge to get higher position than this? Thank you so much. The answers from this topic was very concise and straight to the point. Very helpful. I hope I can find this job as work from home, I hope you can give me website where I can apply. Thank you.

What does it mean when it’s your 2nd week at work and you’ve been kind of nervous because you’re new to the job but you ask one of your trainers and she says your doing great and she asks “how long have you been here, since last week?” “I reply “yes since last week” and she says “yeah you’re doing really good”. But she has given more work to the one that has been there for 7 months and the guy who’s been there for 1 month, and not me…. Does that mean she doesn’t think I’m ready for that amount of work? I work for the city as an accounting clerk. ….. am I just overthinking it? I was working really fast and balancing with my money while the others were kind of messing up with their counting and then all of a sudden yesterday and today they started working faster than usual…… any thoughts? Like I’m not sure if I’m being useful or resourceful

Wow, I just found your video and it's super informative. I've been desperately trying to find an internship, seeing that I'll be graduating with 150 credits in BS Accounting this December. There's really close to no chance for an international student like me to be hired in the field as the firms don't want to deal with all the hassle. And things get worse after the pandemic! I now wonder if I should continue to pursue CPA license or try my luck in Canada... Wish me luck!

Your employer should have no idea how old you are. Age discrimination is illegal. That doesn't mean it doesn't happen. But it does mean that your employer has no right to know your age and you should never be revealing anything to your employer that can even remotely give your age away.
