what is crazy is this "Entry" board is the one used on the Cosair Vengence i8100 for $4,600. Seems crazy they would use a entry level mobo with such a high price tag as their premium PC that has been getting very fast reviews.
@ALKtech

Well the PRIME Z790 is entry-level in the spectrum of Intel Z790 motherboards, where the Z790 is still a high-end chipset for Intel 13th Gen builds. This board still has features that matter in making sure high-end processors such as the 13900K can perform to their maximum potential. such as a beefier VRM setup. No surprises here that Corsair chose a board such as this over say, a ROG STRIX board that has more bells and whistles but would cost much more, and would drive the price of their PCs even higher...

@ALKtech
Жыл бұрын
Thanks! I can't seem to find the Z790 Pro RS in Sim Lim pricelists, nor on Lazada and Shopee though, so I can't really comment on it price-wise in SG... That said, taking a quick glance through the specs on ASRock's website, both the Z790 Pro RS and the Z790-P WIFI are pretty similar overall, with the key difference being that the ASUS has on-board WIFI while the ASRock doesn't. The ASRock also has more M.2 slots and SATA ports and perhaps a fancier looking aesthetic with an integrated I/O shield cover and onboard RGB LEDs. Pricing wise, I'm gonna guess that the ASRock will be cheaper, seeing as the brand's modus operandi is to offer up attractive specs at much lower prices than the rest of the competition. If you're intending to overclock, you'll have to get a board powered by the Z790 chipset, as B760 boards do not officially support overclocking, so that'll make the Z790-P WIFI the default choice, which should handle a 13600K with a small amount of overclocking just fine. That said, given the number of fans that you're intending to have, you'll definitely need to get a fan/RGB hub for sure - depending on the model of PC case that you're getting, some cases do come with such a fan/RGB hub preinstalled. Personally, if I'm going for a 13900K, I'd probably get a mid-to-high-end DDR5 board; if we're talking about ASUS, their ROG STRIX Z790-F GAMING comes to mind. For other brands, perhaps something from the AORUS series at least (for Gigabyte) or the MPG/MAG series (for MSI)!

@ALKtech
Жыл бұрын
Yeap! You did mention that you wanted a Z790 in your new build though - if you are open to Z690 while they're still available new, I'd go for a Z690+DDR5 board instead. The Z690 and Z790 chipsets indeed have minimal differences after all, key differences being the amount of USB 3.2 and PCIe 4.0 lanes, which doesn't really translate into significant value when it comes to motherboard specs. If you can score a Z690 board on the cheap, I don't see why not! Do note though, that you might be faced with the minor inconvenience of needing to update the Z690 board's BIOS with a 12th Gen CPU first, before being able to use a 13900K! Of course, if the board has a feature that allows BIOS updates without needing to install a CPU/RAM/graphics card, that would save some hassle...

I have a 4080 and I was told to try resetting my motherboard so any help would be greatly appreciated

There isn't a reset button on this board - you might wanna try clearing the CMOS by removing the CMOS battery (with the PC powered off and unplugged from the mains), and leave the PC be for a few minutes, before replacing the battery and powering it up again. You should find that the BIOS will be reset - simply restore your usual settings (XMP for memory, enable Resizable BAR etc), and hopefully the issue will go away. If this doesn't work, I suspect you might have a hardware issue!

I take it that you'll be reusing the 3080 for your new build? Personally, and especially with AMD's recent CPU price cuts that seem to be holding still post-Black Friday, I find myself to be a little more inclined towards the AM5 platform, as it'll likely be supported for several generations (hopefully) of new Ryzen processors in the future, plus AM5 chipsets such as the X670E and B650E have native PCIe 5.0 for both the graphics card and M.2 slots.
