After pairing the second hand CompKart Ranger Cadet kart chassis with the Ghost Racing prepared Briggs and Stratton LO206 engine, and a couple of problematic shake-down practice sessions, we went to United Karting for our first race in Cadet 206.
This is a big step up - the Kart is 100 pounds heavier (nearly twice the weight of the Comer Bambino/ Kid Kart, and more lead ballast than driver), a more powerful engine (green slide rather than the restricted Kid Kart slide) and older and more experienced competitors (class is 7-12 years old).
We had some mechanical issues through the day - a broken hub and bent tie rod - but the kart mostly ran well all day. Zoe got better throughout the day, and looked comfortable at the level even if she's still well off the pace.
More tuning and practice needed for the next month or two before a big race in October.
