I had CABG X 4 surgery 18 months ago. It took them three hours to harvest the veins from my legs and the mammary artery because of the damage from smoking which I stopped in 2004. Last 11 months I have been Keto adapted and lost 50 lbs with about 50 more to go. The reason?, I felt no better after the surgery than before. My cardiologist said a vegetarian diet would take care of it. I have changed cardiologist and requested a cardiologist that would support a low carb lifestyle. It is great that you are talking about fat not being the problem. Our carb addiction is so under the radar that when you tell someone they are addicted, they laugh about it like it is a joke to be addicted. It is not until they actually try to stop eating carbs for a length of time that they see how real it is. The side effect of not understanding that carbohydrates cause weight gain and are addictive, they make no effort to be mindful of how much they eat. Thanks for a great video.

One year ago I gave up sugar, then a few months later I started Intermittent Fasting, where I cut back all carbs a lot. I now eat maybe 20% as much carbs as I used to, and really very little sugar and processed food, I increased the amount of fat, and for the first time in my life I have a small, completely normal amount of body fat. I can eat as much or as little as I want, doesn't matter, as long as they aren't carbs.

If I may humbly add to your observation, in addition to what they are doing to High school kids, it starts right in preschool. They go to preschool for two and a half hours and must have a snack and drink while they are there! What do most parents give them but cookies, goldfish and a sugary drink? Then they put them in a sport where they run around for an hour and they must also have a snack and a drink again! Then they go home and won't eat a healthy dinner even if that is an option. Most parents hit fast food on the way home from the sport. They are set up from an early age for insulin resistance and a rollercoaster blood sugar ride. They wonder why there are behavioral issues, parenting issues aside. They don't feel good! Thanks for this info. I have had an epiphany and now know I can't have carbs at all. This is why keto did not work for me.

I appreciate your videos. It inspires me to keep going and to not fool myself into thinking that I can eat carbs and maintain a healthy weight and mind. Since I hit my mid 40's I put on 20 pounds and it's not comfortable for me. I've been eating carnivore about 90% for 6 weeks and have not lost any weight. I'm not sure why. Maybe because I didn't have a lot to lose in the first place. I eat eggs, meat, sugar free bacon or meat sticks, avocado's, twice I had some broccoli, also, pickles, olives, cheese, 1/2 and 1/2 in my coffee. That's pretty much it. I did relapse one day and had a couple handfuls of salt and vinegar chips and a piece of sourdough bread. Other than that I have been very consistent. I feel great mentally and anxiety has even reduced noticeably. I would really like to get these extra 20 pounds off though. Any suggestions? Maybe moving more? Thanks for all you do!

How much is addiction and how much is just that we’re surrounded by the stuff, and our families bring us up on it? I cringe at memories of being served cereal and orange juice! Pancakes with a ton of Karo’s Dark Corn Syrup and not even any bacon. We did have bacon most days. It’s a miracle that I didn’t develop diabetes early on. In my early 20’s, a doctor told me I was hypoglycemic. No explanation except it was “the opposite of diabetes”. No recommendations. No comprehension of the ramifications. Not even a suggestion that this is part of the metabolic syndrome spectrum or that it could lead to worse. I thought I was safe in eating sweets. I limited myself to high-quality baked goods (homemade whenever possible) and unsweetened cereal, but sprinkled a small amount of real sugar on it. At 73, I have had bloodwork showing prediabetes at least twice over the last few years, which I easily corrected by cutting back on sweets. Temporarily. But I always went back to them eventually. Last September, my bloodwork showed a return to prediabetes, and, for the first time, fatty liver. Once I looked it up, I was horrified. I have also struggled with hypertension the last few years, and finally (threatened with heart and kidney damage) accepted 1med, Carvedilol, plus a water pill. Unlike some others, I can tolerate it with minimal side effects. But seeing all these factors converged, I realized that my lifestyle was not compatible with health. In October, I started modified carnivore (raw dairy, some fruit). Next week, I have another blood draw and I expect the results to be improved. I have stopped waking up at 3:00-3:30 am every night (the hour of the liver). But this time, I will never go back to my old lifestyle. I’ve learned too much about nutrition, unforgettable lessons, Dr. Cywes, from you and others such as Dr. Elizabeth Bright. After a year or so, I might bake ONE kind of German Christmas cookies and share them. But those are totally seasonal. Once the lebkuchen, butterballs, or peppernuts are gone, you are done for the year. I’ve stopped giving family members Easter baskets…. But we are long past Christmas now (which I spent in isolation-carnivore is a lifeline when you’re sick), so I can continue peacefully ignoring sweets day to day.?It’s really not hard.🥰

I have a theory myself. Agriculture goes back some 12,000 years-where people would have farmed grain and wheat and various other proto-crops,. These are Carbs (please check the work of Dr Michael Eades who states very clearly the immense problems the Ancient Egyptians were having with type 2 Diabetes from their carb diets) and of course, being incompatible with the human body, the carbs would have made people feel less than optimal. What if religion, which comes along about 4-6 thousand years later in the form of Hinduism, was a desperate attempt to understand why people felt bad, disconnected and not 100%. Clearly people perceived they were severed from "God" or whatever force you call it, but I think they were feeling separated from themselves-the reason? Because they were malnourished and unhealthy. And so, feeling ill constantly from their diet, they perceived themselves as suffering and distanced from their source. Perhaps this is the root of why people have sought a connection with the divine-not because they do not have that connection, but that it has simply been obscured by bad food and their perception, was that they were severed from whatever unity they must have had prior. Could it really be this simple?

I like your "NO BULLSHIT" approach. Are you familiar with Dr. Robert Lustig?
