Hi Shane, great videos. Was able to get E-flite T28 1.1 BNF to work with RM Zorro, i didn't catch reversing rudder and aileron at first, so probably took me 2x what it should have. I have the safe select tied to a 3 way switch, but like you only have 2 different modes (2 are just As3X and one is Safe+As3x). The safe is quite restrictive and I'd like to modify. Anyone able to modify the .srm files from Radiomaster bound to AR receiver to help out? Other options?

There is a version of the Forward Programming script that works with the Zorro, I have it working on mine. Haven't done any videos with the Zorro yet but have some planned in the near future. If the receiver isn't locked you can just go in and configure it from the Zorro via Forward Programming. If you have the option to "show advanced menus" in forward programming as I showed in a more recent video, you can do a factory reset and reprogram it from scratch. The latest Lua scripts allow the Zorro to handle this. If you don't have the "show advanced menus" option, you'll have to unlock it as I showed in this video series in Episode 2 using the Spektrum USB programmer.

Your videos are the best. They get to the point quickly with information that is tested and works great. I understand you have an IT background. Is it possible to transfer models from a Spektrum NX10 to a boxer or TX16S? I have looked for conversion software with no luck. There have been brown out issues with the NX10. When looking at the SD car for my boxer using the usb function to see on my computer. I have models in the backup file that do not display on my radio.

There are so many differences between radios the parameters wouldn't really "mesh up". The exported model files from the NX radios have file extension .NSPM and are "human readable" using Notepad. I suppose someone could write a program to extract any usable data from the .NSPM file and populate the .YML file on on EdgeTX but I just don't see it saving much time, if any, since not enough parameters would match up and you'd have to go in and complete the model setup manually for everything else. Couple thoughts to transition to EdgeTX. First, you really need to learn the EdgeTX interface and how the logic flows. Once you have a good feel for that, come up with the base model with the "extras" already built in that aren't model specific. Then use that base model to create a template that you use to build each model from. Particularly if all the models are Spektrum receivers, you should be able to pre-build quite a bit. Then you only have fine tune each plane that might have some minor differences. Second, if you get proficient with EdgeTX Companion Software, you can create and edit models with the software on the PC and export to the radio. I don't use it much but it's handy when I want to use it or perform simulations. Probably the thing I use it for most is when someone sends me their SD card contents I can load them up in Companion as if it was a real radio and find all their errors to help fix issues. Once you learn your way around EdgeTX creating models won't be that difficult I think.

That way I can just land and if I need reverse all I have to do is pull the momentary switch while at zero throttle. Of course the throttle cut will override this for safety. Why don't you set the TX16S to TAER mode before you create a model for a Spektrum receiver so that the channel order is the same in the TX16S as it is in a Spektrum transmitter? Using AETR would screw me up..

I would have to install different multi-protocol firmware. As it is now it automatically converts AETR to TAER when binding to Spektrum. If I change that firmware and connected to a non Spektrum RX then I would have to convert that one so I just keep it AETR. Never bothered me, that's my "normal". Rarely even noticeable since the firmware handles it in the background. I suppose if a person only ever used Spektrum it would make sense to use the TAER firmware.

The stock receiver program has them pre-programmed for some BNF models. Some don't have different rates, some do for safe mode. Those aren't adjustable from forward programming but there is some 3rd party software that will let you delve deeper into the receiver setup and see & edit the flight mode rates. I'll do my best! First, what transmitter? Assuming a TX16S but want to be sure. Is this receiver from a BNF (bind and fly) airplane or was it new off the shelf? If BNF then it might be locked and limit how and what you can do with it until you do unlock it. Have you assigned a switch for flight modes? This is the "safe" switch. Binding in save enables it but you need a switch assigned to the correct channel to switch between safe modes and AS3X. If no channel is set for safe yet it can either be set via forward programming or by moving the sticks down and in and flipping the desired switch 5 times. Switch has to be mapped to a channel first. Let me know where you are hung up and we'll get you through it.

8 ай бұрын
Good question! I never thought to mention it during my videos so might have to do a video explaining this! It could cause some confusion. "Safe Mode" is the generic term used for a flight mode that is configured for auto leveling and/or bank limits to reduce the risk of crashing. "Safe Select" is what they call the configuration set in BNF (bind and fly) airplanes from the factory that defines how you turn safe mode on or off during the bind procedure. For example, on a factory BNF plane, with a Spektrum AR631 receiver, when you bind if you leave the bind plug in and press the bind button on the transmitter, safe mode will be disabled and you'll only have AS3X. During binding, if you insert the bind plug, power on the receiver, pull the bind plug out, then press the bind button on the transmitter, safe mode will be enabled. Once you unlock these receivers, that bind method to turn safe on/off does not work, you must go into forward programming to edit the safe modes or turn off safe entirely.
@alexherrera3918

@@shanesdiy Many thanks for the explanation. Make sense now because i did both version of the binding with same results " two sets of beeps" of the control surfaces.....i never got one only. this maybe because the safe select needed to be set up with the forward programming. thanks again!!!

@@alexherrera3918 If you've followed my process to unlock your receiver, "safe select" is now disabled and the binding method won't make any difference. First thing I'd check is make sure your servos are plugged in correctly. Be sure the signal wire is on the correct side. Check the Y cable for the ailerons. Maybe not related but what multi protocol channel layout software do you have installed on the Radiomaster TX16S? Most common and what I use is AETR. Spektrum uses TAER but on the transmitter side of things you ignore that. What channel order did you setup for our model? Needs to match the multi module software version because the transmitter is going to automatically convert AETR (or whatever you software version is) to TAER. Some people assume they must program the channels as TAER to match Spektrum and that will not work. Next I would look at the channel monitor on the TX16S, are the aileron and elevator channels moving? Did you try to program some dual rates or get creative with your transmitter logic before getting the basic plane working? If so, you may have setup dual rates incorrectly.

I am not aware of any common repository for folks to share model files but there may be one somewhere. If you have a specific plane in mind, let me know the receiver model, plane model, channel assignments for channels 5+ (channels 1-4 are fairly standard) and I could do a quick setup and share a link to the yml file.
