In this country, pedestrians do cross road freely. As a Malaysian, I too think it's not a very responsible and definitely, a dangerous behavior. Hopefully, one day, changes can happen.

"Orang Malaysia giler" 😅😂🤣 Anyway, I lived in Europe for many years and then went to US for college. When I came back to Malaysia, I was confused too. The trick is when u first come back to drive, make sure there's a lot of cars on the road. That way, u will naturally follow the car in front of u. The problem is when the road is empty, your brain will go back to what u are used to and u automatically drive on the wrong side. U will also go nuts at the roundabout/rotary lol (clockwise or anti-clockwise). It was worse for me, because I used manual transmission car overseas and in Malaysia my car was also manual at the time. So u have to get used to changing gears with your left hand instead of right

But it is advisable to pay via cash.if you pay using card, there is a pre-authorisation sum which is a temporary hold of a specific amount (RM200 on Visa / Mastercard & RM250 on Amex) from the available limit on the credit & debit card. It is used to verify that the card is active and has sufficient credit prior to the fuel transaction. Once the fuel transaction is completed, the bank will receive a notification on the final amount payable, and any untilised amount from the pre-authorisation sum will be credited back into your account within 3-5 working days. So yea, for 5 days, rm200 will be missing from your account.

In Malaysia when one is coaching a driver driving a car in English language, remember to use the word "correct" (betul) to refer "right" (also means betul) instead of "right" (also mean kanan) . This is because new drivers will get confused with "right" referring to the direction way of "left" kiri n "right" kanan.

idk why he said you can't pay at the pump itself when you can! I guess he just want you to try the 'traditional method' of paying for the fuel lol. If you have credit card or debit card, you can just pay using your card at the pump itself without going to the counter. But if you use debit card, your account need to have balance of RM200+ cause RM200 will be automatically deducted from your account regardless of how much you refueled. After you finish refueling, they will refund your RM200 and it depends on the petrol station. with some petrol station, you can get the refund pretty fast, while some may take a day+. Unless you refuel at Petron, even if you use debit card, they will only deduct how much you refuel, they will not deduct RM200 from you. Regarding the signal and wiper, even I sometimes get confused when I drive others' cars. Like, my dad's car is Hyundai so his signal is on the other side of my Toyota car so sometimes I mistakenly push the wiper instead of signal lol. If you want to do a roadtrip in Malaysia and drive yourself, the one important thing you need to be aware of is motorcyclist especially at traffic light. It's pretty common to see motorcyclist will cross the road even when it's red light. And another thing is, some Malaysians don't know how to use signal or too lazy to use it -_-
@AlexSDU
2 жыл бұрын
I believe they already stopped deducting RM200 from your account long ago. Last month I bought petrol using my debit card with only got RM30 in the bank account, and I can still can pay it. I usually goes to Petronas & Shell. We don't have Petron here in my place.

My experience of having to change back to driving a car on the left side of the road (steering on the right) in malaysia after several years of driving on the right (steering on the left) in a foreign country, I had to give extra attention to these: 1.when you want to come out from a junction, make sure you are looking at the correct direction to ensure there is no oncoming traffic, and make sure you drive out that junction into the correct lane to avoid head-on collision, 2. When you want turn into a junction, make sure you remember and know which lane you're supposed to get into to avoid head-on collision

Ikut-ikut Waze tu sampai dia punye entrance, bapak aku press room key dekat entrance punya machine tu. Tapi takle masuk. Dah panik, banyak kereta tunggu dekat belakang. Banyak kali pulak press, tapi tak detect. Sekali bapak aku masukkan room key dekat dlm machine tu, keluar balik pulak. Sekali ternampak button merah yg selalu jumpa dekat mall untuk ambil ticket parking tu. Terbahak-bahak orang dalam kereta selain driver time tu. Ya Allah, I just can never forget that. Atok aku ada dalam kete cakap je 'macam rusa masuk kampung betul'. Sampai cari parking pun tak settle lagi gelak nya. Nasib baik dia tak telan room key tu. 🤣🤣
