the 3 legged stand is ok idea, but ! you need much bigger foot pads to stop the legs siking into soft ground as for placing strips over the middle of the brood, why do that ? I place any form of strip toward the sides of the brood, > alternate sides then this does not mess up the existing brood patch and the bees can work around them as they expand. The nurse bees are contantly walking over those strips

I place the strips in the middle of the brood because that is where the majority of the mites are. If you get effective control doing it your way that is fine. I am happy with the way I do it. I have had experience of the brood moving after I have placed strips so that the stirps are left on the edge of the brood and the mite kill has reduced as a result. So I not only place the strips in the middle of the brood, but I move them if the brood moves so they remain in the middle. But we are all free to do it our own way, that is one of the things I like about beekeeping. There is almost always more than one right way to do things. :)

If in doubt... Use your Roof as your Table ! No Legs to go South so to Speak. Keep the Bees and the Beek Grounded ! 🤭 We learn lots from the Stuff Ups. Once is enough ! 😎

Cheers. Yes, this has only happened once to me, three legs out, four legs slightly splayed in. I use a table to protect my already fragile back. The stress on my back of lowering a full deep box right down onto the ground is significant and I like to avoid needless work. But we do learn from our stuff ups and I like to show what I do, warts and all. Its easy to edit out the mistakes and create an impression that you are perfect. But that isn't very real.

Hi, I do. I place strips in Spring, Mid Summer and Autumn. They take some time to break down in the hive and so most of the Autumn strips stay in the hive all winter. I pull any remaining strips out in the Spring and put fresh strips in all the hives. I am in the process of making an update video with the latest info on the methods I use. Check it out before you make your strips because there are some changes to the way I was doing it when I made this video. It will posted in about 10 days. Good luck.
