Twang is super important when trying to harmonize with someone else. It's how you create your blend. I learned how to sing by harmonizing first so i picked it up naturally and use it to shape my voice around whoever i'm singing with, by using different percentages of twang like justin talks about.

Celine Dion has always been the best example of a popular singer that uses twang regularly to her advantage. I think a lot of people confuse it with her being super nasal even when she’s singing a mid belt like C5 or D5 with a very neutral placement just because of the way it resonates.

One thing no one talks about is using the Twang or Mix in a song that specifically goes up through the passagio multiple times asending and decensding. So the question I would have is how do you do that and keeping a consistent sound.

There's a similar sound quality in Belcanto singers called "lo squillo" (clanging sound). Have ever listen to Mado Robin? In those times that quality was considered the most important feature to be achieved in a trained voice. Diction was very clear, the sound was brilliant whether you were an alto, a soprano, a tenor or a baritone. Nowadays coloratura sopranos seem mezzos campared to the singers of the beginning of 20th century up to the the thirties... Very nice job! I really agree with you that twang is essentially a feature of pronunciation, and if you don't understand and experiment it as a pronunciation ( as too many italian pop students do) it could be even damaging, when it is not...

I know you don't really focus on this styling, but you tend to explain things in such a way that I understand them better. my question pertains to screaming vocals in general, I used to be able to scream very easily and with different tones, but I caught mono, and when I finally recovered, I couldn't do it anymore (at least very well) and all the tutorials out there teach how to do it better, rather than how to do it at all. my singing voice remains untouched however, and I'm unsure why that is.
