If you pop the seals on the three bearings clean and refresh the grease you will never need to replace, the bearings are so heavy duty you with your mere body weight will never wear them out

Yeah- I got the little washer wrong on reassembly, which meant it was too loose AND too tight (binding) at the same time . Thank you!

Hello friend, thank you very much for the video, very explanatory. One question, the rear mass has 1 6001 bearing and 2 608 bearings?

Hi, I have the Aksium rear wheel, recent purchase from a shop, and have an intermittent buzz coming from it. Generally over 15mph and I can control it by pedaling forwards or backwards. It lasts only seconds...maybe 5 to 10 seconds and as intermittent I never know when it will occur. I'm familiar with Mavic wheels, having my Ksyriums for near 20 years, so I'm comfortable servicing them. I removed the freehub body and inspected it last night but other than a bit dry I saw no wear, etc. that could be the cause...everything looked normal but the pawl springs seemed a bit weak compared to the springs on my Kysriums...I swapped them for a test and after lubing reassembled. Haven't ridden it yet so can't comment on if it still occurs. I've never heard this sound from my K's and that's after many years of hard riding/racing. What are your thoughts? Suggestions/advice is very appreciated. I Googled my problem and found you...thank you for a great video, I watched both. Also a subscriber.

Did you ever figure out the fix for this? My rear hub has the same problem.

what was the problem?

@@Rambleon444It's called the "Mavic Death Squeal." The nylon bushing is likely the culprit.

@@asianbumz Actually I just took it apart (very easy), cleaned it and it works fine.

You use grease instead of mineral oil to lube cassette body...Surprising!
@mutos82

Lubricating the pawls with grease is a huge mistake. At some point, the pawls will stop bouncing off, the mechanism will lock and be destroyed. The best idea is to use a fairly viscous oil - in this case it should be a special oil due to the sleeve made of a special material (not metal). Generally in this tutarial is to much grease. Best Michał

What about the white "plastic" bushing/bearing which in real life wears out before the ball bearings?

it depend on how often of your maintenance period, anyway I never hear that the white plastic wears out before the ball bearing.

@@megearbikeshopd.i.y.2883 So how often would you recommend to users to check these hubs to keep them in a good condition?
