Wish me luck, I'm building my first RC car, the Tamiya 1973 Porsche 911. I wont it as a show piece and the paint and decals have me worried.

Great instructions, I'm in the middle of putting the 140 stickers on my Tamiya rally car (FLIPPING TEDIOUS!), I had no clue they wanted you to go in order starting with #1, great tip! Too bad I have already done the front of the car, I was working front to back, now I will change it up and find # 1. LOL.

I like scissors myself they are fast and accurate if you get good at it. I have not tried a razor and will try it out. The hair dryer and soap water is a great tip. I'll use tweezers for the small stickers.

For trimming, use a metal eraser guide. it makes sharper, straighter cuts.

This is how the Pro's do it. Love your patience here. 👍&🔔 Have you ever considered using pinstripe of paint between the body panels.? Sometimes black is too dark, so i mix in up to 60% colour that the car is painted. Edit:- Haha. 19:25 This is why i should leave ALL my comments to the END of the video. (forget everything i said about pinstripes & panels)

Nice work there and some great tips. Yek ive used Tamiya PS paind on small pieces of abs plastic and it doesn't have a gloss result but seem to be okay. A lot of people say not to use PS paint on ABS plastic as it may dissolve the plastic. Like even hobby shops and Tamiya instruction manuals say this. Nice work again 👌👍

Excel make a hobby knife with a swivel blade. The blade rotates inside the barrel (handel) of the knife. Brilliant tool for cutting curves. Scince i found it, I've never looked back.

Looks so good! Thanks I learned some stuff Is it a good idea to clean coat the car after the stickers are on?
@quietrc

No, you absolutely do not need to or want to do that. Also, there is no gloss clear coat that exists for polycarbonate.

Great instructions, thanks! How about windows, mine (M06 Beetle) are laid out so it's obvious that I could just cut around the trim, not having to cut the actual transparent window out. But I'm feeling it could be a mess with air bubbles etc. Thoughts?

Would clear coating over the whole outside of the body help keep them on long term?

Not for Lexan/polycarbonate bodies. For hard plastic ABS bodies, it would help.

Leaving the number on until the last moment helps you keep track amongst the batch you cut out, so you don’t put the lefthand decal on the righthand side…that kind of thing.
@quietrc
8 ай бұрын
This kind of backs up my argument for using a hobby knife to cut them and leaving them on the whole sheet. When you cut them all the way out with scissors, yeah, you have to leave the number on and then cut *again* to cut the number off. I have to be missing something, because a lot of people do use scissors.

Stickers are what my toddler plays with… I’m trying to pretend I’m a fully grown adult over here! I think the vinyl decals are more robust than the water slide decals on static models. But the technique I’m using here is basically mimicking what you do with water slide decals.
