This is the test I was waiting for but unfortunately I can't take this seriously cause it was not done till 0%. First of all the percentage on phones with different mah capacities make this half test very unconclusively for real world use. Second is the software/temperature management that tends to be imprecisely in the mid life of battery showing up real truth after the 10‰ left battery. You have the phones, please do a conplete test. 🙏

You make a valid argument however I think the sole purpose of this guys test is to attempt to simulate what an average person may experience in any given day. For this purpose I think his test is arguably very valid indeed. I do not remember the last time my phones battery ran out completely! So doing a 100% - 0% is immaterial to me, and I'd bet likewise for millions of other phone users. This video is a job very well done 👍

Not exactly a fair test Ash. As you know smartphone makers tune the charge percentages a bit different and are not uniformly indicated. For example, Oneplus phones drain way too fast from 20% to 1-2% and stay there a while. So instead of stopping them midway, you should have let them drain completely. I know that takes way too much time for shooting and editing but I feel like that would have been a truer drain test.

Few thoughts : 1. While the comparison is objectively accurate, it is highly unfair. You are choosing a phone that costs easily more than 1.5 lac INR and comparing it with phones that are literally priced less than half of the same with a couple of exceptions ( all android smartphones shown in the video can be bought for less than 1 lac INR now ). A fairer comparison would be to choose the iPhone 15 or the 15 plus - NOT the pro max series. 2. What is the resolution of the android smartphones ? Is it FHD+ or QHD+ ? It really makes a difference. If you are using QHD+ resolution and comparing it with iPhone 15 pro max, which despite its horrendous price tag is has significantly lesser ppi than the Chinese phones, I will rest my case. 3. Whilst all smartphones shown in the video provide excellent battery life, what is just as important is the charging speed. It is really a quality of life improvement, when your phone can give you a day's worth of battery with just 10 mins of quick charge. This should have been mentioned.

The Red Magic wasn't a surprise because they probably don't have budget to optimise performance, which is why the battery is still big. @@andyH_England Basically Android does stuff in the background like checking for emails, checking for tweets/posts/toots whatever. Maybe someone programmed their podcast app to check for new podcasts every hour and download them. Or their RSS app is checking for new feeds every 2 hours, or maybe the weather widget is grabbing the latest weather update every hour etc. Or maybe the play store is updating apps in the background etc Android does all these things that iOS can't and it uses more battery. Which is why Xiaomi and some other Chinese brands kill these background processes on purpose to prolong battery life. Which I don't agree with because the beauty of Android is this background power and having an active device that can do things for you in the background

Batteey drain test need to done till 0% battery left, because some of this company manipulate the battery percentage, the only way to revaluate is to keep using them till they die, only then you can be certain which one of those phones are actually the best. Just like iqoo 12 dosent drop any battery percentage for 13 mins of video calling.

Hi Ash, these batteries will degrade with time right, so the newer ones will have more life and 6 month or 1 year old phones will have more drain in comparison.

Appreciate the effort Ash, but this is not a great battery test. You really need to run the test until the phones shut off. You're assuming that the battery life is linear, and that 0-50% is equivalent to 50-100%. iPhones in particular drop significantly faster in the last 20% (20-0%) compared to the first 20% (100-80%). I use both iPhone and android and it's pretty obvious to anyone that has used both.

No SIM in the phones makes the test severely inaccurate. Or at least include a test with cellular activity

Damn impressed with S23 ultra & xiaomi 14 pro considering battery size. Realme 5 pro is the actual winner in android. Next time hoping you consider battery health & battery average per 'mah'

s23 ultra is a year old bro even if you get it new the battery is tanked a bit from storage so for me his the true winner here if we put the s24 ultra next he win this one with ez

I was ready to be disappointed by the Oneplus, but it did better than I expected. I was stuck between the iPhone 15, Samsung 23 and Oneplus 12. Now it's only between the iPhone and the Oneplus. We'll see how they price the Oneplus here in the EU.

I don't think the OnePlus was that impressive considering it's 5400mah but need to see more tests done , also I'll be buying the Chinese version OnePlus 12 with oxygen ROM flashed, Chinese version has all the network bands. Just waiting for global release so the ROM becomes available, I've seen the 16gb /512gb for £630 which I think is amazing value, the EU one is gonna be much more

You should use the vanilla iqoo 12 as it is only available in India and don't call in realistic drain test as you didn't use 5g in non ac environment

It would be great to add a section in theses tests where you test how each phone handles 5g/4g connectivity , some phones tend to have good battery life on wifi but fares very poorly on 5g/4g , the pixel 8 I believe is the biggest example , I had this phone and was getting good battery life on wifi but on cellular data I was getting about 3.5 hours max of sot doing nothing really intensive just using social media apps and web browsing, I think this test will have a completely different result using cellular data especially regarding the iphone as Qualcomm's modems generally tends to be more efficient

Future tests should be done on 5g as most of the people hardly get to use wifi due to work or travel.

People need to keep in mind Samsung s23 ultra should be the practical winner as it's almost the oldest device amongst its competitor(So Max battery cycles) plus it may be working on One UI 6 which is heavy compared to its original One UI 5(It's best tuned UI)

Why dint you drain till 0% bcs what happens is at the last 20% of your battery thetas where the magic happens where you see a lot of phone shaving a lead falls so you should have drained it completely without this it's an incomplete test

battery tests like this on new phones does not show anything good other than the peace of mind with data... every phone manufacture has different optimization... check for total charge cycles on battery, how much capacity is left with every full charge cycle.. drain the battery to 0% several times to preview real world usage. cause as the battery degrades so does the phones performance/ SOT..

I don't think this test is accurate. All phones should force 120hz display since some of them will run differently in some apps
