I asked my architect friend what those bits are called and he said 'Y'spill me f&*kin' beer agin I'll cut 'e bo*&^ks off wi'a fu&*in' broom y'gobs&*^e!' but a little later on he said it's a dripmould cornice, which is also what I usually order from the ice cream van. Cornice would do, it'd be a dripmould one because of the pokey-outiness which is meant to make the water fall off without splashing on the building. So it's a big stone house umbrella. I also like the concept of gaming at that scale, although, when Cadetitis Durexicon came out, hur hur, the wee lads were 6mm, not 10mm, but, y'know, wevs. Same idea. Don't think I ever actually played like that but, two fings emerged when workin' out how to do it were... James Worksop didn't make enough miniatures at that scale to do the infamy properly (then) and there was something of a bee date on whether you ought to adjust the scales of weapons etc, the issue being, when you sit down and look at what they say is the effective range of, say, a bolter, you realise in 40k the combat range of a primary arm is more or less the same whether you give your troops a rifle or a battlespoon. - the range models for 40k actually looked better when you applied them to the itty bitty sproons. From the Deep Storage of the Archives of the Legends of the Scouse-Marines... Jeff - - Sir! Sir! Voratus - - What is it Guardsman? Jeff, isn't it? Jeff - - Yes, sir, Millicent Jeff, Guardsman third class, second absorbing group, under Major Ince, sir! Voratus - - Very good. Carry on, Guardsman. Jeff - - Well, sir, yes sir, thank you sir, but sir, I was sent, sir, to tell you about the fuel silo, sir. Voratus - - Yes, we have secured both silos, ahead of schedule and with acceptable loss of life. We are very pleased, Guardsman, the Emperor is probably quite happy with you. That's nice, isn't it? Jeff - - Um, I mean, yes, sir, obviously, sir, that's great news, sir. Voratus - - Good chap. Top hole. Warms my cockles to see a firm ruddy face light up with the blessing of the Emperor. Jeff - - Warms your what, sir? Voratus - - Cockles. Jeff - - Uh, yes sir, as you like it sir, not really my thingie, sir but whatever floats your boat I say, haven't we got enough to deal with as it is, sir? Voratus - - It's an expression, Guardsman. Jeff - - I don't judge, sir. Voratus - - You had something to say? Jeff - - Oh, yes, sir, absolutely, sir, it's the silos, sir. Voratus - - We have forty eight heavy armour units lining up to fill their tanks with aetherium volus, essential for the advance to the Nova Slough settlement, I do hope you're not about to irk me. Jeff - - Um, I don't know 'ow to irk, sir, probably above my pay grade. Voratus - - Irk, to irritate, annoy, um, angrificate. Jeff - - Righto, boss, thing is, the thing is, right, that we 'ad the dipsticks pop down just to make sure, like… Voratus - - The Adeptus Mechanicus? Jeff - - Right, sir, yes, sir, the dipstick mechanoes, well, after they stopped complainin', like, they said there was a problem with the petrol, like, sir. Voratus - - The aetherium volus? It's tainted? Jeff - - Absent, sir, mainly, they said the tanks are full, right, but, not with theoretical rodents, sir. Voratus - - What do they contain? Jeff - - Ah, well, the left one is soy-sauce, the right one is, I think they meant honey, sir. Voratus - - …honey? Jeff - - Well, they said it's from a bee, so, that's honey in my book, sir. Voratus - - From a bee? Jeff - - Yeah, sir. Voratus - - Not wasabi? Jeff - - It's a little black and yellow insect, sir, flies around all buzzy, sir. Voratus - - You're telling me we just sacrificed two thousand fighting men to claim one hundred thousand GVU of oriental condiments? Jeff - - Uh… Voratus - - Open a communications tube to the Liverbirds vessel in orbit, I am quite certain there is one, and ask if they may have just happened to find themselves over burdened by aetherium volus and find out what their current rate is, and Jeff? Jeff - - Sir? Voratus - - If you ever refer to me as 'boss' again, I shall use your skin to muffle the infernal clanking of my Baneblade's tertiary exhaust manifold.

Great video, I personally would love to see a video about how you make 40k terrain or how you would tackle some classic terrain from old codex pictures. Your collection of terrain looks very well rounded so they could be filler pieces or smaller doo-dads. Thanks for all the inspiration! Edit: I myself am trying to make some jungle trees and those old codex photos got me thinking.

Definitely looking forward to a potential follow-up to your venturing into epic, Matthew, but I have to say, if you compose a few more songs you'll have a unique opportunity in that you could make an album...but not just any album.....one that can be turned into a terrain piece in the time-honoured tradition of turning CDs into bases as well as contain your unique brand of songs (the actual content being downloaded as MP3s of course, and the CD being blank). What should the album's title be? Not sure, but "metal trees...not cranes" sounds like a good candidate at least, food for thought maybe? Keep up the quality work! P.s. a requiem song for the fallen wilkos as a bonus track would be a good one to add.....and/or a Wilko bit of terrain that, in the style of demolition man, survived all the way up to 41st millennium the same way taco bell was the only restaurant that survived the franchise wars, i suppose you can change the name slightly to something like wheel-co or whatever if needed lol

Wooden Dental tongue depresses? Sounds like someone has an Oral fixation to me!😂 Also do you have a habit of stealing, sorry i meant collecting, sorry i meant borrowing Lancashire beach sand? I obtain my sand from the Solway Firth estuary, where i can also do some bird watching and photographing, any excuse to be in nature and by the coast really. It's so typical of a woman, to take issue with a toilet that doesn't flush!! They just don't understand scratch building and it's importance in cultural heritage.🤔 have you tried mixing powdered tile adhesive/grout into you sand? It gives a great variation to the detail & depth of rubble & earth, especially at this kind of scale. Very nice little builds and that song, simply inspiring!! Something the grimdark war torn future needs, also sung in Russian with traditional Russian music and it could be a great Communist propaganda piece, or equally sung in English, with a more 1950's brass band piece of music added & bang!! A Capitalist promotion piece; Sang with a plain monotone voice & synthesizers playing brother and you have an 80's new wave classic in the making. Truly a song for all and for all occasions brother Matthew! Where do you find the time?😁👍

Oh hello again brother. Yes I do have a habit of collecting sand from Lancashire beaches. It tends to happen unconsciously when the sand gathers in my shoes and other such places as I roll around on the beach. And then I bring it home with me. Would be a shame to waste it y'know. I have tried grout but not in this scenario. Will have a go with the next builds. Thanks. And funny you mention the Solway firth. I used to live but 8 miles from there. Take care buddy.
