I love everything about how Jack is portrayed in this scene. When he’s surrounded by Davy Jones crew he makes an epic getaway to face Jones 1 on 1, you get to see some empathy from him when he says “I can set you free mate”, he tricks Jones into showing him the key and beats him in a duel, the “Oi! My pistol!” line and him shooting the chest out of Jones hand is awesome, then he does some sick stunts and is ready to fight Jones again before remembering his sword broke so he picks up a log and fights him with that, then when Will is killed he gives up what he wanted so badly to save his friends life. She was fated to find a handsome man washed ashore her island - someone she would fall in love with. But she could never convince them to stay and thus, would always suffer from a broken heart. @user-jr3zr2mp9c On the screenwriters' commentry for the first movie they state as much. According to them, Will is the best swordsman in the film, followed by Barbossa and James Norrington, who are on equal grounds, and that Jack was the worst. It is inconsistent with what's actually portrayed on the screen though, since Jack clearly matches Barbossa in their duel at the end of the first film, and he is the only one who holds his own against Jones in this film (you could argue that he actually beats Jones since he disarms Jones, whereas Will and Elizabeth were beaten in seconds). Norrington is the only one who has actually beaten Jack in a duel (he disarms him in the three-way duel in the second film), but you could argue that Jack wasn't actually interested in the duel itself as his focus was on obtaining the key to the Dead Man's Chest, whereas Norrington was genuinely trying to kill Jack.
@fala5764
Жыл бұрын
@@kingofthering3343they probably meant it more from a technical or skill related sense of being better. We know Barbosa is extremely good with the sword, same with will and norrington who both practice a ton, while Jack isn't quite as good on a technical level but covers for it by using his brain in combat to pull of tricks or confuse his enemy. The only fight it seems he took completely seriously was his duel with Jones, where he showed that perfectly, using everything he had to his advantage. Against Barbosa jack was smart enough to be cursed before starting the duel, and his win condition wasn't to beat Barbosa in a duel, but for will to get the treasure to the chest and break the curse, meaning he had no reason to fight seriously. In dmc, he never really took the 3-way duel seriously because he doesn't really care who gets the chest, as if will gets it so what, and if norrington gets it both him and will will probably stop him before anything happens.

The last two movies were made for younger audiences that's why, notice how they change the grim dark and grey cinematography to colourful youthful theme, that alone changes everything about the 'Pirate of Carribbean'. I tried editing 'The lost tides' by changing the colorful youthful theme back to dark and grey filters and it's night and day.

I like how you can clearly see Jack's ability to think on the fly with some of his own luck thrown into the mix. Break the thing that holds the sail down to make a get away, and be lucky to even stick the landing. Luckily an enemy with his pistol was swinging by, immediately shoots the chest out of Davy Jones' Hand-Tentacle thing. Sword is a no go, use the log instead. Oh, look, the Key is crawling by.

There will be no replacing Johnny Depp's Jack Sparrow...even if Disney does the most predictable thing which will be a reboot...if a movie is 10 yrs or older it qualifies for a reboot in today's Hollywood....that's sad.
@wafflingmean4477
11 ай бұрын
I wish they would just let directors make new things rather than rebooting literally everything. Very, VERY occasionally a reboot is warranted for a film. It's more of a thing for video games where you can keep the same voice actors but update all the visuals and gameplay. It's so much harder for movies. You can't reboot Jack Sparrow. He's lightning in a bottle and no one but Johnny Depp will ever be able to catch it.
