Finally, a food guide made by someone who loves food! Forget the guide for tourists, these vlogs are a good guide for Spaniards as well. By the way, to serving young red wine a bit chilly (14/15 C)l we call it in Spain “darle un susto”, meaning to give the wine a “little fright” 😉 Congratulations James, excellent foodie videos.

Excellent content James, the pintxos of the Basque Country are the equivalent of the tapas in other areas of Spain, meanwhile in the RIO DE LA PLATA, they call then bocadillos (basically mouth-sized snacks) probably not as fancy or elaborate as the tapas or pintxos, the bocadillos "etmology" or "naming" I think originates in Galicia? I heard someone mention this, that a Gallego, owner of a "boliche" (or a bar) it was either Uruguay or Argentina, used to cook-up a storm, in the boliche, making snack-sized plates, and not wanting to call them "tapas" or "pintxos", as that would refer back "to the Old Country", he called them "bocadillos" - or in Aussie slang called - "finger foods"

Let my compliment you right off the bat on one thing, most folks that host video series involving food have the bad habit of sampling piping hot food fresh out of the kitchen. They invariably wind up honking it back up into their hand or they wave both hands over their mouth as they agonize in pain. You're more sensible and don't commit these types of impulsive errors. I also realize that it's difficult to eat bar food in a polite manner so you've got no choice but to scarf it down like a dog sometimes. I don't mind though, it's how the locals do it anyway , right ?

@marinaflorezrodrigo4988

I mentioned the other day that I lived in San Sebastian. In fact I was over the river (smelly in those days thanks to a paper mill upstream, now closed) in Gros. My students therefore called me a Grosero. (Ask your good lady what that means). I knew some of these bars back then though often they limited themselves to a rather dull menu turistico. Great to see the expansion into Pintxos. Thanks for the insight. Keep up the good work!

Totally agree. A street name and address listed in 'Show more' section. I really like Jim's sharing the Catalan language. Once I hear the words pronounced I try to phonetically write them and say them. Maybe showing more chalk boards in each bar with the menu and talking a bit about key words to learn.Strangely even seeing a 'receipt' helps to get an idea on how much an evening of bar hopping will cost. Many Thanks Mr. Blick

Hey James, I recently found your channel and your videos seem to be very informative with great quality, especially for a channel your size! I will be around Barcelona/Valencia for the first time in a few months, and I was hoping to stop in either Mallorca or Menorca for a few days. Between taking a plane and a ferry, do you have an opinion on which mode of transportation would be more efficient, or which of the two most locals opt for? Thanks!
@spainrevealed
6 жыл бұрын
Hey, to be honest, I think most locals would take the boat. But I'm sure it's a mix. Either way, I think the boat sounds a little more fun than going to an airport and getting on a plane. Though in a few months it could be a little chilly. Either way - I'd opt for the boat. Let me know how it goes. And I'm glad you like the channel. Spread the word - let's make this channel bigger :)
