The brain needs sleep. Whether it’s because of a seizure (or cluster of seizures), a hard day, a neurodegenerative disease, stroke or any other number of reasons, the brain needs to rest and recover.
Robert requires a lot of sleep. He used to sleep like a rock throughout the night, wake up at 6:00 for program then fall asleep throughout the day and sleep late on the weekends. Now, he frequently wakes up through the night but with my flexible schedule and Day Program being virtual, he can sleep in, even on the weekdays.
We try to be as flexible as possible so Robert gets the amount of rest he needs.
The next time you’re sick or your brain is tired, allow yourself some extra sleep (maybe even with your own puppy!). It really makes a difference!
