My brother owned one and I had my eye set on it for about 18 years, when I first got into playing guitar. Yesterday on my 35th birthday he called me over to give me a present and hands me the very guitar I had been oogling for all that time. Free of charge and totally worth even the full price

When I bough it and and saw the horrible neck dive, I got so upset. Yes, it helps if you change the front strap button. I also changed the back strap button to the back side of the guitar, closer to the middle of the body [both straps are on the back side]. I didn't care how many holes I will have to do to fix the neck dive. Still, the Epiphone Gothic Explorer is the best looking Explorer. Better looking than the Gibson who has a huge headstock that looks like a shoe.

Get some strap locks for that or you'll lose it. I nearly lost my LTD Explorer which has the front strap button in the same place on the shoulder - the angle of the strap makes it want to pull right off the button. I put a set of Schaller locks on it and it's been rock solid ever since. But yeah, it's a dumb place for the strap button for neck dive. I have a Dean ML too, and that has the strap button on the back of the neck heel and it holds position so much better, despite having a bigger and heavier headstock on it.

Thanks, also mine doesn’t have the kill switch feature, so did later models of explorers get rid of it or is mine just broke?

If you refer to Active EMGs, well if you can fit a battery in the electronics compartment, sure, i mean you can always install them, but i don't know if it's necessary to route out some wood for a battery compartment or not

@@megahurtz30 Thanks for replying, i was hesitant and bewildered whether i should buy the Explorer 1984 or the Goth 1958 and the EMG pickups was always the difference maker for me :/
