You got yourself a new subscriber due to this great interview with Mark Galeotti. Thank you both! ''The Death of Stalin'' is a brilliant movie, maybe my favourite movie. I mean, ''The Chekist'' (1992 Russian), ''As Far As My Feet Will Carry Me'' (German), ''Katyn'' (Polish) , ''Tortured for Christ'' (Romanian, Richard Wurmbrand story based on his book) the Russian movie ''The Road to Calvary'' and the series Trotsky, they are all good and well worth watching, but ''The Death of Stalin'' was able to put the broader hellish nature, the intense mental and spiritual anguish, of Communist/Soviet Russia on screen, through black comedy, which is probably the only way the insane story could be done. Oh, and Putin banned the movie of course.

Why is Lenin not known as the monster koba was?

1. because he died in January 1924, so was at power for only a few years (unlike stalin) 2. communist propaganda essentially deified him

the story about putler going, as a teenager, to the kgb office seeking to get employed should be taken within a huge pinch of salt, as the only source is the pathological liar putler himself. Ditto for any other tall tale he said about his past.
