can you briefly touch the difference btwn RC, Aircore and diamond drilling? I take it that diamond drilling is for cutting through stones?

Diamond uses a diamond drill bit and cores the rocks. It’s slow but gives you an intact “core” of rock that you can measure structural orientations from, use to get density data and see very accurately how the mineralisation occurs. It’s also the most expensive type of drilling and it generally used to collect technical information. RC uses a big hammer to smash up the rock and suck it up to surface. Generally all you need for rock identification and geochemical sampling. Aircore uses a rotating blade to chop through the ground which is then sucked back to surface in the same way RC drilling is. Once you get to hard rock it has limited ability to penetrate. You can put a hammer on it which converts the aircore to “slimline RC” but you have a smaller hammer and less air from the compressor to help you drill. RAB stands for rotary air blast and it’s just a hammer or bit in an open hole. It’s cheap and okay for rough first pass shallow exploration but has problems with contamination and so forth. It’s not appropriate for resource work in anyways. Just run and gun with RAB

Hi Mike, have you come across a book or some other resource I could read to understand the rare earths value chain (metals, geology, mining, processing, uses) at least to some degree? Thank you very much!

Only individual papers at this stage, I learnt most of my stuff through trial and error and via the work of Phillip Helman. He’s about the most knowledgeable expert I have spoken to in this field.

What are your thoughts on Phosphate?

I don’t often think on it much. With Carbonates it’s certainly a possible bonus commodity though!

hi Mike, i know you are done with lithium and want to focus on copper now, but could you have a look at Global Lithium pls? DFS will be out in 2nd half of 2024. (GL1.AX). Thx!
