This video shows some highlights of a hike in the Wolkberg Wilderness in Limpopo, South Africa. The diversity of scenery that's packed into a relatively short hike (+/- 30km over 2 days) makes this one of my all-time favourite hiking destinations. From 2000+ metres in elevation, epic views, evergreen subtropical forest to waterfalls and rock pools - it's got it all! But, be warned: it is a very remote wilderness area, so you have to be prepared.
Our route took us from the Serala Forestry Station down to the Klipdraai waterfalls for the first night's camp (6km), through the "Wonderwoud" and up to the plateau for the second night's camp at Cleopatra's Pools (10km) and back to Serala via the 4x4 track north of the plateau (16km).
