About Our Guest:
Dr. Sarah Milken graduated with honors from the University of Pennsylvania, with a B.A. in communications. After graduating, Sarah worked at the BBDO advertising agency in London. Upon returning to Los Angeles, Sarah received her M.A. and PhD in educational psychology at the University of Southern California. Upon finishing her PhD at USC, Sarah taught in the USC Graduate School of Education.
Sarah's passion for education, children's and women's issues is demonstrated by her active role in many organizations. Sarah was a member of the board of trustees of Brentwood school, a well recognized private high school in Los Angeles. Sarah was also a member of the City Year Los Angeles Board for 10 years and chaired the Development Committee. City Year is a national non profit organization where Americorps members serve as tutors, mentors and role models, helping public school students thrive in academic and social emotional spheres, across the country in underserved areas. City Year partners with public schools to create learning
environments where all students feel supported, build on their strengths and fully engage in their learning. City Year also prides itself on taking research into the field and measuring learning and social emotional outcomes.
Sarah is the founder and host of the podcast, The Flexible Neurotic, ranked in the top 1% of podcasts. Sarah and her husband, Jeremy, live in Pacific Palisades, California. They are currently 1⁄2 empty nesters, with one 11th grade daughter at home and their son is currently attending the University of Pennsylvania.
