Now that is an honest promotional video. 👍 Regardless of manufacturer, if you're looking to fill a particular spot in your bag, you may need to try several discs before you find a winner. Reviews and flight numbers are helpful, but every experienced player can tell you about a magic disc they haven't been able to replace or are afraid to lose.

Kinda funny that I'm watching this just before I head out to the park to choose a replacement main driver. I lost my fave last week and tossed its back-up into a lake Tuesday at Swenson Park in Stockton CA. I can't wait to see the big boys play the Leonard Muise-designed course during the OTB Open next month. We played a slightly shorter version and it was 10,450 feet. Yep, you heard that right. And it's only 18 holes. Can't wait to see Prime Time Paul tear it up in person.

This is something you don't think about much, but it impacts you a lot if it happens. I have lost a disk in my first tournament, and had planned to throw that discs on 3 other holes. I had to improvise and it wasn't pretty. I have started buying a couple at a time and trying to keep at least two of my most thrown disc with me at all times. I'm not to the point of buying 12! But maybe some day. Love the videos.

Very cool. It is impossible to find most discs at this time. You would think manufacturing would be at 110%+ Also for us to purchase 14 discs would be $240 + - that's a lot of dough to get consistent flights. And maybe have a couple out of them that fly like you need them to. Love all your down the fairway videos. Thanks for sharing.

Loved this breakdown of how you go through and find your throwers and back ups. You definitely can't say it enough about throwing over the water. If the disc is the one with the best line for the shot you can't be worried to throw it over the water. Learned alot about that when I lived in Arizona, tons of water shots around there as much as people wouldn't think it.

Great timed video. My son just lost his best distance driver practicing for a tournament this week where he needs big bombers off the tee. Problem is that we can't find any replacement discs anywhere online. So one of the best tips I got was to buy multiple discs when you buy a mold to have a backup (and maybe a backup to the backup!).

Good video idea Paul. Won’t harp on the 15 discs thing because it’s been said. I would love to see an addendum for the amateur players who don’t have form as dialed as you. If a disc doesn’t fly like another in that mold it is generally my form wasn’t quite the same. I would have to spend way more time than you to determine if they truly fly the same.

I enjoy comparing mould profiling. Not one disc is the same as another. Every time I've bought discs, I look at the profiling of the disc to determine possible aerodynamic traits. After a while, there is a general understanding that is culminated by having experienced throwing so many moulds with varying traits.

Finding a good disc has always been tough. It seems like the smaller the company the more consistent the discs are but then the problem is post 2019 you sometimes can’t even find one disc you want. First it was factory shutdown then it was the boom in the sport now it looks like a plastic supply problem with no end in sight. The popularity explosion is cool but discs shortages and courses being overcrowded in the short term is a problem. I hope it all can be sorted out soon. I am lucky to live near some top rated courses and many backups so I can usually just go to another course but I bet some people are not that lucky. I hope this trend in popularity can sustain itself but the growing pains are real. The bright side is more courses go in everyday and maybe the disc shortages will sort themselves out soon.

I can't get 15 of any one disc to see which one I want to use. Thanks Paul. I find the disc shortage odd. A friend of mine owns a disc golf shop. He sells over 1000 discs a month. Innova is limiting him to buying 800 discs a month. Discraft - 150 - 200 a month. Discraft is buying 6 more machines, and I'm assuming Innova is too. So why after a year of increased growth in the sport have they not adjusted? Is disc golf really growing at a rate they can't keep up with? or are they just trying to inflate the costs of the discs? Discraft is eliminating Pro-D plastic (the most affordable plastic) Why? Is it not selling? hard to believe. Or is it they can make more money on the other plastics?

Nothing, they're just a more over stable run. I get a good straight flight with maybe a little stand up or slight turn with a dependable finish out of the PP esp run. My Ezra Elite team stamp is a meat hook in comparison and replaced the beefy Z force I had in my bag. For me the PP run is just easier to get consistent distance without trying to overpower your shot or really force something over. The Ezra run is great for that over stable slot or extreme headwind situations. But on an average day I'm reaching for the PP nuke. TL/DR - I don't eat enough beans.
