Good day. After watching a few of your videos i realized we met during the teapping class at Ben Avery on May 27th of this year. Im obviously new to this. When you were doing your demo of setting a cage trap, i asked how many do you typically catch in a season. Also think i saw you at the Camtrip demo but i was there briefly just to pick up a couple sets of cages. Anyway, if i remember correctly, you said your line was about 180 miles. How far apart will you put your cages? What's the home range size for cats? How many cats do you think will live in any given area? Thanks for the help.

Oh ok. I remember you. I’ll put my cages anywhere from 1/2 mile to 10 miles apart. Depends on the type of terrain. And cats have a range of 4-10 sq miles. But ranged overlap. And also populations vary throughout different terrain and elevations. The more someone traps and catches the better idea of the population in an area is.

@@trappingspots Hey, thanks for the quick response and for purting all those videos up. Im working my way through then. Very informative. I feel like I need more traps, only have 8 so far. God bless

Just found your channel. New Sub. How many cage traps do you run? And do you run any foot holds?

Thanks for joining. I run 30-40 cages per line. I normally run a line for about two weeks and then move on. We can only run legholds on private land and that’s becoming harder and harder to get access to. So I haven’t run any legholds for about 10 years.

@trappingspots Thanks for the reply. I trap bobcat here in Wyoming, with mostly legholds. But it gets hard to keep them open when the snow gets deep here. I did pick up 5 cage traps. I haven't used them yet. Anyway looking forward to more of your videos.

@@Guidedhunts Awesome. I’ll be up in Lusk in mid-August for coyote days. You have some beautiful cats up there. I’m behind on my episodes but I’ll keep putting them up.
