This is such a cute episode this week with the nicest of people and one of the world’s more revered prima ballerinas, Cynthia Harvey.
Cynthia is very much a small-town girl with serious drive and ambition and an abundance of talent which propelled her to the absolute heights of the world stage in ballet, to be partnered by histories most celebrated male dancers.
She knew herself from an early age and was hell bent on reaching the top. She has danced with Mikhail Baryshnikov and Anthony Dowell in all of the major classical ballets and was a principal dancer at both American Ballet Theatre, and The Royal Ballet in London.
This episode is quite heart felt in many ways as Cynthia talks so honestly and openly about her roles, her partners, particular performances and knowing herself if she was ready or not. She talks about the gruelling schedules of touring in a major ballet company and getting the call from The Royal Ballet. There’s nothing she hasn’t done. After dancing she worked as a stager of the many great classics and took up directorship of the ABT Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School, where she was instrumental in coming though and out the other side of the Covid 19 global pandemic.
