Hi Alanis! I used to be paralyzed, after years of hard work, miracles, and more, I walk again. Today, I am an SE practitioner, yoga instructor, bodyworker, and artist, and I want to say this was a really nice interview/conversation. It's important for me to hear and re-hear such principles that you two touch on and talk about in this. Thank you

I would have loved to hear, what Peter Levine says about the concept of "Highly Sensitivity." Since his work is so much about the nervous system, I think, his approach is very interesting for highly sensitive people. Just wonder, if he accepts the concept.

Ive always adored and admired u Alanis. On ur first tour I attended 1 of ur amazing and memorable shows. And I've Always Felt A Connection With U & Not just bc of ur amazing music&lyrics, but thru the traumatic issues&pain we have both endured. I have been able to find some cathardic release thru meditating and affirmations. But it hasn't healed me from the varieties of abuse & pain I've endured since I was 7yrs old. I've been lugging around all of the side effects and the baggage from it all for so many yrs.now. I also suffer from severe anxiety, trust and abandonment issues chronic pain, depression and isolation. I've never opened up w/anyone about these issues. Its a struggle, some days are more difficult than others. I know that Im in need&also want to find a spiritual healer that can help me with doing the necessary shadow work. But I'm so thankful I found you&this site with you on the other end and I truly look fwd to listening & learning. I constantly Pray for inner healing & peace of mind & to just be able to release all of that trauma in a healthy way so it no longer haunts me, especially within my relationships. I yearn for a happy peaceful healthy unconditional love for myself and to find & or be found by my life long love and life partner that is 150% consistent, trusting and will love me for me...and not bale on or abandon me!! BC I'm ride or die and when I love I love hard and I give all of me. But I can't let myself be hurt again. Its just happened too much in the past and it really makes me shut down from all good things bc the shame and humiliation creep back in and continue to cling onto me. U.R.A Beautiful Soul Alanis. ThankU From My Entire Heart&Soul GodBlessU ILoveU For U. MUCH LOVE~PEACE~LIGHT ALWAYS 💙✌🌟 UR #1 FAN ~JENN

This has incredible information and Alanis is of such keen intelligence and has enough personal interest and knowledge in the field to enable Levine to bring out very substantial material...but oh Alanis, it is truly irritating to hear you constantly interject him, as if out of a deep need to show off your knowledge. Yes, this is a conversation and certainly not an interview, but finishing his sentences, interjecting 'yes' constantly to acertain how you already know this, that you are like his peer, as well as interupting with your own experiences ultimately is exhausting and irritating. Not black and white, certainly; many of these comments led to Levine going deeper, but your personal interjections could have been reduced by 40% or so it would have made a better listening experience. Otherwise, great to hear two persons passionate about this subject sharing.

Yes, her habit of constantly interrupting her guests is very frustrating. She does it with everyone she talks with, constantly bringing the attention back to herself. I find it hard to stay focused on what her guests are trying to say. Very annoying and difficult to listen to.

feels like a deep need to show off and feel superior and in control actually, she literally shut him down and didn;t let him finish sentences, very irritating and childish...

I'm likening what you say about that we innately know what we need in a traumatic situation to how we dissociate with our selves at a very young age because we realize it is not safe for us and how later, sometimes much later (like maybe 50 years) in life and after much self sabotage we reclaim that inner child and and welcome, acknowledge, love and nurture our little selves like a healthy parent/mentor would. The stowing away of that little innocent precious (inner) child is or higher wiser self knowing exactly what we need to be safe-to save our lives...

To Vicki L et al.: Hello, I can only add to your comment & others. Yes, Alanis is amazingly bright, but her insistent interjections to Peter's talk were extremely annoying. I can only speculate that since this was completely an AUDIO presentation, Alanis felt a compulsion to keep talking. Maybe her verbosity gave her a greater sense of connection to Peter, or maybe she just needs more experience in how to conduct an interview. Hopefully, our comments will lead to improved interviewing skills to a great singer/songwriter.

As another commentator said here, the host interrupts so much it is off-putting to both the guest and the listeners. It's still a great interaction, but too sporadic due to all-too-oft interjection

Unable to listen to this conversation without getting stressed, overwhelmed and uncomfortable, Alanis keeps pacing, interrupting and interjecting constantly, very hyper, very mental and restless, not grounded, being eager/excited to enquire and exchange concepts and relate her own personal trauma stories, very often trying to joke around, even at some inappropriate moments, but of course she was/is in her own process and a strong excited positive need to enquire and exchange, Peter Levine is always very slow, calming and soothing to listen to, he's surprisingly good at adjusting to this high paced exchange, but it just doesn't make for very good therapeutic listening and assimilation, very stressful, at least for me. Sorry.

it is really a shame that it is not accessible to people who need it most. I could have gotten help two decades earlier if it wasn't for money, when I was truly down in the gutter. Eventually found my way, found resources within my means etc, but it was an arduous journey. Well, it's also the fact that I'm attracted to "unconventional" therapies. I'm sure I could have been put on a poisonous psych med for free (but with a high cost to my health)

I wonder if a lot of male on female violence is actually re living experiences that they had as children , inside of a state of hypnotised connection via sex love and rock and roll , that they just go into that state of actual defiance against the maternal . Having had this done to me multiple times inside of deep relaxed moments , that is what I thought was going on .
