I got mine today and after tweaking it to my liking it rode flawlessly. It was so awesome to ride without my back hurting and my hands going numb. One thing I wanted to tell everyone is I found a cheap and easy fix for the seat moving. I put a hose clamp right behind the seat fitting. I rode a good 10 miles and my seat never moved. It kept moving on me so I brainstormed. LOL Have a great day!

I have watched a couple YT’s on this trike and (being a TT Rover owner of 9+yrs) I know most of the common issues- being a bit of a diy-er I don’t mind minor flaws (hubcaps..loose seat bindings..etc.) as long as it’s mechanical drivetrain is good and let’s face it, for $700 it’s not a cheap bike but it’s less than half the price of the cheapest tadpole trike on the market- you just need to keep that in mind. So did I buy one?- sure did, it’s for my son (19yo and autistic- no balance) so he’ll get a blast out of it ! And yes…Dad will maintain it!😊

Thanks for posting your unboxing experience. I was kind of cheated out of mine as I took a break and went inside the house for a bit and when I came back out, my brother who was visiting on vacation already had the trike out of the carton and unfolded, lol. I'm saddened that you ran into some issues like that with yours. My unboxing went smoother but I did have to fix a problem with the shifter as the cable at the derailleur was attached so that there was too much friction thus keeping the shifter from operating. They had the cable winding in the wrong direction around the attachment bolt. I reversed it and the shifter then worked fine. Also, in case your gears don't shift smoothly or the chain has a tendency to come off, check out this video (kzitem.info/news/bejne/qI2IyoB_oGlqgKQ) where the guy shows how to adjust the Shimano Tourney TX800 derailleur. I've got his instructions in text form if you or anyone else would like a copy. Have fun and be safe!🙂

Thank you for the comments. The shifter is tight on mine, so I'll take a look at the repair you suggested. Happy triking!!!

Keep an eye on Craig's list. It can take a long time but I've found two Wizwheels tadpoles (old TerraTrike models) @ $300 and a EZ-3 delta trike for the same.

Thanks for the comment. We bought my wife's eco-tad on Craig's List, and several months later bought one for our son on CL. We've been looking for one for me for quite some time when we came across the Kent trike. I think in the long run, with a couple of modifications, I'll be happy with it.

@@ournext35 You are right about changing to thumb shifters, so much nicer. And if you can find and adapt a Rans seat to the frame the comfort level is amazing.

I sent a review of my experience so far to Kent International. Admittedly it was not a glowing review because of the problems I found during the unboxing. Their reply: "Our staff has read your review and values your contribution even though it did not meet all our website guidelines. Thanks for sharing, and we hope to publish next time!" All I can say at this point is buyer be ware. Although, they did tell me in a separate email that I could return the bike to the company I purchased it for for a refund or exchange. I bought it through Walmart Online, so there is little chance I am going through that process. Anyway, these are just my thought and experience, yours may be completely different.

It doesn't matter if you get it from walmart online. I also got mine there. You can just print out your receipt, and take it to a local walmart for refund. That's what I did.

Straighten bent brackets with a small block of wood and a heavyish hammer to avoid damage to the paint.

It's nice they started to put foam on the front chain ring. When I bought mine it arrived all bent up, and other reviews said the same thing. Numerous other problems with it had me taking it back for a refund a few days later. They even took the original page down, and reposted it to get rid of all the bad reviews. Anyway good luck with it.

Info sent from Kent Intl. Here is the information for the dust cover Outer Diameter 32/inside Diameter 27/Height 17

Update, Kent international claims they are out of the dust covers and have no idea when they will be back in stock if at all. If I run onto something that works as a replacement dust cover I will share my findings. Ride safe & keep the greasy side down!

Thank you for the update. If I'm not mistaken, the dust cover is the same one that is on my wife's ecotad by Sunseeker. I might check there. Because of a recent heart attack, however, I've not had my trike out but once since I got it, so not in a hurry for now. Thanks for the input.

@@ournext35 I picked up the dust covers you mentioned. The hub diameter is spot on. However, the thread is different. Sun caps are a fine thread the hub is a coarse thread. Perhaps chase the caps threads with the correct die? At this point I am loosing my praise for the Kent Cavalier. The dust cap I'm gonna find a plastic "cap plug" and use one of those. Also, I have had nothing but trouble with the straps on the seat back. They continuously keep popping out. I finally got them to stay in until one of the seat back straps actually ripped out its stitches making that seat strap useless. My review is not going to be favorable on the Cavalier.

"Kent an American manufacturer" that's funny. Kent may be an American brand, but that is a long way from being a manufacturer and likely both production and design happen overseas. The vast majority of recumbent trikes are produced in China or Taiwan. Catrike $$$ is one of the few exceptions, being designed and manufactured in the USA.

It's wishful thinking to find any bicycle at a reasonable price that's not made in PRC. If you're lucky, it might be in Taiwan, a province that respects human rights.
